My partner Dave and myself did the 4 day Inca Trail on October 11th 2006. The porters were absolutely fantastic, they made us breakfast before we started walking and were soon overtaking us to get everything ready for our next stop. They encouraged and applauded us when us stragglers made it back to the camp. The food was excellent and veggies were well catered for. Our guides Miguel and Demos were second to none, it was a fantastic 4 days and we couldnt have done it without any of them.

We did the Inca Trail with Silverio (Banderas) at the beginning of August and he is an excellent Spanish guide, solid as a rock, a super sweet guy and very knowlegdeable. We really recommend that you have him on your trail.

Thanks Banderas! Also, a HUGE thanks to the porters!

Hi

I am just back in Ireland after a great holiday in South America. As part of our trip we did the Inca Trail from the 5th to the 8th of October with SAS. I would just like to say that it was a truly brilliant experience thanks in no small part to our guides Saul, Mario, the fantastic chef and the incredible porters. Saul\'s knowledge and passion for his culture was particularly impressive. I would not hesitate in reccomending your company to anyone looking to undertake the trail as it really was a magical experience.

Many thanks

Liam

I have just returned to New Zealand after a fantastic three weeks in Peru.

I want to say a special thank you to all at SAS for making the Inca Trail trip (9th - 12th Oct) such a special highlight.

From our arrival in Cusco Reuben in the office looked after us brilliantly and was always full of humour. The trek itself with Reuben and Marco was unbelievable. Reuben is a brilliant guide who deserves special thanks, the guy is a legend. He obviously cares deeply about the history of his people and his humorous, energetic descriptions were always interesting and informative. Between Reuben and Marco they looked after us at all times with people of different walking speeds and health.

Valentino the Chef produced food the best restaurants would be proud of in conditions that are challenging to say the least. The Porters work harder than anybody I know and always had a smile for us. Good Work Fellas!!

Thank You All for a trip I\'ll never forget.

I had a great time on the inca trail 04 oct until 13 oct 2006. I wanted to say a HUGE thanks for all the team Simon, Mark and Kelso and to Ozzie and the team. The guys behind the scenes worked so hard and are fantastic. SIlverio deserves another thanks as he carried a seriously ill member down from the highest pass on his back! AWESOME. I cannot praise the porters, cooks, horsemen, guides enough. A world class team - thanks

had a fantastic time walking the Inca trail starting on 26 Dec 05. Our group of 15 had Roberto and Julian as guides. They were both very knowledgeable on the area and the Inca history. Roberto also managed our group and the porters extremely professionally. He was always aware of any problems in our group either with people who were struggling with walking due to injury or illness or with personality conflicts.

I was the slowest walker in our group for all the uphill sections and so spent a lot of time walking with either Roberto or Julian at the back of the group. I had a great time chatting and laughing with them. They are both very kind men. I would not have made it to the top of Dead Women\'s Pass without their encouragement and support. Also their cheerful attitude to walking in the rain each day was infectious. The Inca trail didn’t turn out to be as difficult as I expected once I followed their advice and went at my own pace instead of trying to keep up with the group.

All our porters and cooks were fantastic. Boris cooked great food for us, I never expected that we would eat so well when camping. It was great to arrive at the campsite after a few hours walking and have someone take my pack from me and then get handed a hot drink to revive me. They also surprised me by having a hot, sweet cup of chamomile tea and a sandwich waiting for me when I got to the top of Dead Women’s Pass – an excellent touch. Thank you to all the porters who tried to teach me a few Spanish words as they ran passed me several times each day.

I will have great memories from the Inca Trail for a long time

What can I say, it was amazing. I could not have been happier in choosing SAS for our tour. Victor and Omar were great guides. They were really patient when we stopped every ten feet to take more and more pictures. The food was beyond my expectations. The quality was incredible and was some of the best food I ate in Peru. I can\'t wait to return to persue another adventure with SAS. If you have any questions let me know.. Thanks for a great trip.

I just returned home (FL, USA) from my trip to Machupicchu via the 4 day hike with SAS. I must say that they are extremely professional and caring. I had a difficult time with the altitude, but our guides, Victor and Jose, were there to support me and help me when I needed it. The food was beyond excellent, the tents, sleeping bags and pads were comfy. The best is the morning wake-up with hot coca tea or coffee at your tent. I have nothing but excellent things to say, and I loved every moment (lack of oxygen, dizzy, and complaining) of the hike. My only advise to those considering - make sure your boots are tied tight enough.

Thanks SAS!

Just came back from Peru...and what an amazing experience it was to hike the inca trail with your company (7/11-7/14)! Fantastic food...super-encouraging and supportive guides (Bravo, Saul & Silbario/Banderos!!!) who went out of their way to take care of us and who made us BELIEVE we can do it! Now that i\'m home, i plan to do 2 things: (1) to tell you what a great job your company did and i will recommend you guys to anyone who considers going, and (2) display my hiking sticks on the family room wall! Thank you for helping me accomplish a major birthday wish!

I just wanted to send a little note to thank you for making our Inca trail an unforgettable experience. Thanks Isaac and Eric for being very parient with us. We never felt like there was any pressure on us. The food was great, probably the best I have had in South America and our porters were unbelievable. We´ll definitely recommend SAS to anyone who asks. (and the celebration in Mama Africas was pretty good too!)

I've just returned from the Macmillan Peru Hiking Challenge and want to thank Ozzi, Victor and all the porters for making the trip such a memorable experience. The kindness and care taken by the SAS team was second to none and it was a pleasure to trek alongside them. Without Ozzi's magic touch I may not have made it over Dead Woman's Pass but thanks to his and his team mates encouragement I made it all the way to mystical Machu Picchu. Special thanks also to Raoul and Juan for their support. The food was a credit to all concerned and the presentation excellent. Anyone who travels with SAS will count themselves privileged to trek with such a fabulous team. Also thank you to Ivan who took care of us on the Amazon rainforest leg of the trip. We had a great time and you are all a real credit to SAS.

We have just returned from the 4 day Lares Valley trek and would like to say what an absolutely brilliant time we had. Although initally disappointed that we were too late to do the real Inka Trail the Lares Valley was in no way a second best option. We saw the most fantastic scenery and the people local to the area made the trip - particularly the children and the visit to the shool. Thank you to SAS Travel and their perfect organisation and particularly to Jose Luis our main guide who was great. If you can't do the Inka Trail do this one instead as it still ends at Machu Pichu to see the sunrise before the crowds.

SAS is a first class operation. The porters really hussle, the food is better and more than I eat at home, and the guides (Eric and Victor) are very personable. Some slight confusion about billing was quickly straightened out upon our arrival back in Cusco, with SAS visiting our hotel with the refund. Staying at the Marqueses was pleasurable, and that hotel being associated with SAS seemed to streamline things. Our ride back to the airport was timely, with Raoul even arriving 1 hour early to ensure we had gotten our wakeup calls.
