2 Day "SUNRISE" Machu-Picchu Experience !!! This option is so popular as it allows you to enjoy the beautiful town of Aguas Calientes, walking some trails and visiting around and have enough time in Machu Picchu. Early on Day 2 we will board a bus and ride for 30 minutes to reach this wonderful place. We will be amazed to first encounter Machu Picchu as the sun rises over the high mountains encircling it, then we will walk for 10 minutes to reach the highest spot a great look out point -mirador called (Casa de Guardianes) from there you will have an spectacular postcard views and you will feel and immense peace, no words can explain. Machu Picchu is located in the middle of the Andes and the the Amazon (Ceja de Selva) with tropical vegetation around the year. Located at 2,400 meter asl (1,000 meter lower than Cusco.) The invaluable archaeological heritage of the Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary combines magnificently with the splendid natural surroundings that are the habitat for unique species of flora and fauna. Machu Picchu sanctuary recently was declared as one of the 7 Wonders of the New World and it is a World Heritage Sanctuary declared by Unesco in 1980.
Pick up from your hotel in Cusco approx at 06:40 am- 6.50am. Private van to transfer you from Cusco to the Train Station in Poroy (25-30 Minutes near Cusco). The train ride consists of spectacular views in this wonderful land of the Incas, amazing landscapes of mountains and valleys, Inca farming terraces on both sides of the valley, snow capped mountains and sub-tropical jungle near the Ceja de Selva. From Pachar the sacred Vilcanota river will be our companion until arrival at Aguas Calientes (2040m) also called as Machu Picchu Pueblo. A SAS Travel rep will meet you at the Train Station and accompany you to Hostel Viajeros where you can settle, rest and prepare for your lunch. From about 2.30pm you can enjoy free time wandering the local markets, walk to the Botanical garden and Machu Picchu museum (2 Hrs) or walk to Mandor waterfall (3-4 hours). You may like to relax in the hot springs in the evening (15 min walk). Night at Viajeros Hostel. Lunch and Dinner. At dinner time your guide will meet you for a short briefing and he will present you plans for next day. After breakfast at the Hostel, your tour guide will come to the hostel or hotel to pick you up, then 5 minutes walk to the Bus Station, now we are ready to board the bus up to Machu Picchu Citadel, it takes 40 minutes approximately, (Please bring and show your passports at the checkpoint). Machu Picchu Sanctuary is open from 06:00 am (the night before your tour guide will come to your hotel to explain to you the details of your tour.) From 2022 the Park has established 3 new Circuits. (our guides will do all possible to offer you the best tour even in extreme circumstances.) A guided tour of Machupicchu Citadel takes approximately 2 - 2.5 Hrs, after the historical information, the tour leads you through all the most important areas of the sanctuary, as the miradors, the temples, the residences, plazas and terraces, time to get the best photos. Afterward, you have finished your tour, take a bus to Aguas Calientes town or you can walk down -optional it takes 1.5 Hrs. The very interesting MachuPicchu Museum and Botanical Garden are located at Puente Ruinas which are worth it to consider a visit. Lunch is not included on 2nd Day. (Bring some snacks and drinks or order a box lunch at the Hostal/Hotel the night before at Reception.) Free time to stay in Aguas Calientes town or enjoy the hot springs (15 Soles pp extra). Train return is generally at 15.43 pm to Ollantaytambo and private transport to Cusco, (in high season the train times may be slightly different due to availability) or can be a direct train to Cusco. Finally a 30 minutes transfer from the Train Station to your Hotel in Cusco.Please Note.- If you would like to add the climbing to Huayna Picchu mountain or the walk to Montaña, you must book and reserve those tickets in advance (8-5 months).
