The Inca Trail trek is considered and rated from moderate to challenging hike.
A minimum hike experience and and a reasonable fitness are essential and required.
1 or 2 nights in Cusco or on the Sacred Valley for acclimatization are recommended.
If you have not hiked over 4,000 masl we recommend you to hire a personal porter for the entire trek and in advance.
Visit your doctor and have a complete medical check over before booking this hike.
The fitter and more prepared you are, the more you will enjoy your trek, please take some time do some training. Ensure you keep well hydrated. Walk each day with a relaxed, happy attitude. If you are not prepared for a 4 day hike, the 2 Day short hike, 3 Day Sacred Valley and Short Inca Trail version which are still great and impressive experiences and it demands much less effort. If you do not want to worry about the height or physical effort that these treks demand then...enjoy a train ride, take it easy and relax ... simply book an overnight tour by Expedition train, Deluxe Vistadome Train tour or the exclussive super luxe Bingham Train and have an early guided tour then explore the citadel in your own for classic pictures. (80% visit by train, 20% hike the trail).
On Day 1 walk is for 4-5 Hrs, Day 2 walk is for 7-8 Hours, Day 3 walk is for 7-8 hours Day 4 walk is for 3-4 hours.
Recommended age for classic Inca Trail is from 11 to 69 years.

Day 1.- Transfer from Cusco´s Airport to Hotel Marqueses, Cusco Tour.
Day 2.- Sacred Valley Tour, Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Chincheros.Hotel Marqueses.
Day 3.- RAINBOW Mountain Tour. Hotel Marqueses.
Day 4 to 7.- Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. 8 Kg personal porter service.
Day 7.- Arrive to Machu Picchu. Guided visit, time to explore. Return to Cusco.

Reception in Cusco airport and Transfer to your Hotel in Cusco , Rest and acclimatize as you are now at 3,400 mts above sea level. If you are feeling up to it. Afternoon: At 13:45 pm Guided Cusco City Tour : Koricancha " Sun Temple" , Cusco Principal Cathedral, Saqsayhuaman Inca Complex,Tambo Machay,Qenqo and Puca-Pucara.
Please note if you are organising any pre or post tour accomodation you can organise the city tour for any day not necesarily the day of you arrival.
Sacred Valley tour start at 08:45 am at our office, visit Awanacancha -andean weaving center and Alpaca, llamas farm, Pisac Inca town and typical market, continue to Urubamba. Lunch in Urubamba, guide tour at Ollantaytambo after exploring this amazing place we return to Cusco, before we will stop at the beautiful village of Chincheros with a colonial church and the Inca town. Also we will visit a women textile workshop where they will show their incredible work of their ancestors.
Pick up from your Hotel in Cusco between 04:00 am to 4:15 am
3 Hrs drive on a private transport to Quesiuno located at 4,320 masl (start of the trek).
Breakfast will be provided once we arrive to Quesiuno.
We start our hike from 4200 m to 5100 masl to RAINBOW MOUNTAIN aka:(Cerro Colorado, Montaña de Colores or “Vinicunca”) lead by our expert guide, here we can see the stunning colors that are natural formations of minerals since ages that give colors to the mountain. Beautiful views of red and colors mountains, streams and herds of alpacas and llamas and the south side of Ausangate ranges of mountains. We will hike through small traditional andean villages a see the local people with their colorful dresses.
After a total hike of approximately 3-4 hours, we finally will reach to this mirador spot to have an impressive views of Rainbow Mountains located at 5,100 masl. Time to explore the area. Time to rest and enjoy our packed lunch. You will have time to take pictures and soak in the environment. (We will spend approximately 30-45 minutes at the top). Then we start our return back hiking a downhill the way thru we came. The hike will take 3 hours.
Our private van will be waiting for us when we return. 3 hour drive back to Cusco and drop you off at your Cusco hotel. Approximate arrival time is between 7 and 8 pm.
At 05:45 am Departure from your Hotel. 3 Hrs bus to Km 82 where the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu start. 8 Kg personal porter service. A duffle bag is provided and you must have a daypack to carry for personal items (bottle of water, camera, snack, rain jacket , etc) 3 hours walk to Karpamayo where we stop to rest and have a lunch. 2-3 hours to Hatun Chaka our first campsite. Showers available. 6-7 Hours walk to the campsite. Lunch and night in 2 person tent. Camping.
Early breakfast and start a gentle flat walk for 1 hour to Huayllabamba, then we start to climb from Ayapata until Llulluchapampa (3 Hours) where we stop for our Lunch, rest and enjoy the landscapes. Early afternoon we continue the last 600 meters up to reach Dead Woman Pass located at 4,200 meters above sea level. (This is the highest pass during our trek) After the pass a walk down for 2 hours through stone steps until the valley of Pacaymayo located at 3,600 masl. Te time, Dinner. Good sleep !! Hatun Chaka to Pacaymayo. 7-8 Hrs walk,
After breakfast 2 hours walk through stone steps gradually up-hill until the 2nd Pass named Runcurakay Pass, very impressive Inca road -strong stone trail built hundreds years ago just at the middle of the road in a corner you will find a small semi circular shape Inca building called Runcurakay -probably a Tambo a small inn where Chaskis -Inca runners used to find a warm resting place, get some food and implements, steps up will continue but don´t worry enjoy the beautiful landscapes and take many pictures, after you get to the Pass with big rocks at both sides, from this point probably 1 hour more to descend steps and nice flat stone paths to reach Sayacmarca an amazing Inca Town -we recommend you to rest a little but walk up the steps to reach the entrance to this ruins -very impressive, enigmatic, unknown, see the sacred boulder at the middle of this residence, see the channels of water and beautiful stone fountains, steps and alleys, after return to the trail to continue a path to Phuyupatamarca, afterwards another 2.5 hours flat and soft ups walk until Phuyupatamarca where we stop for resting and lunch. Also very impressive edification and admire an natural architecture building small structures above boulders and incorporate in one. After lunch 3-4 hours down hill stone steps to Wiñaywayna our last campsite. Dinner. (Good bye to our porters)
Pacaymayo. Runcurakay, Sayacmarka, Phuyupatamarca, 7-8 Hours walk to the Wiñaywayna campsite Lunch and Dinner.
Very early breakfast, at 04:00 am -this is unfortunately the more noisy of campsites, everybody want to begin walking this last leg of the trek, less than 2 hours in time to reach, early breakfast but make sure to check carefully your tent and personal belongings -you won´t see again to our porters -we start our walk through the sungate, Intipunku -Entrance and look out point to the Sanctuary with mountains and Valleys around below you will see the sacred river Wilkamayo running around the massive range of mountains. (Mirador of Machu Picchu) 3 hours walk to Machu Picchu. Guided tour for 3 hours then free time.
Afternoon late bus to Aguas Calientes town. Night in Aguas Calientes Hostel Viajeros.
Free morning. Afternoon. Transfer to the Airport. (End of our service).
