Step 2. How to Book
Once you have checked the availability of your desired tour, trek or expedition, you’ll then need to book it and pay a deposit. How far in advance you need to pay depends on the type of trek or tour -- but early is always better!
Please note: We sometimes received feedback from clients saying that our confirmation emails were directed to their spam folder rather than their inbox. To ensure that you receive our reply, please modify your junk mail or spam filter settings to allow incoming emails from [email protected].
How to Book You Inca Trail Trek
Once you have seen available spots for your preferred departure date on our webpage, please go to the form above. The reservation code is generated automatically. In this form, you’ll first need to select the tour or trek that you’d like to book. Then select your preferred departure date (or simply return to the page of the trek you are interested in and select your trek departure date in the calendar on the left side of the page).
Now select how many people you are booking for and click “Continue.” You’ll be taken to a new page where you’ll need to fill out all of your details as requested. This will include details of your group in the “Traveling with:” field. If you are joining friends who have already been confirmed for a particular date, you must indicate the same dates that they have chosen (for both “date of departure” and “alternative date”); you’ll also need to add their names in the comments section.
If you do not have enough flexibility for an alternative date, you must indicate this by entering the same date in both date options.
Once you have finished and sent the form and we have received all your details, you will receive a reservation code (purchase number e.g. 240611001). You must then pay your booking deposit within 24 hours -- your reservation is not confirmed or safe until we receive a payment. We don’t want to rush you, but we do want to make sure you get the permits for the days you want!
The last spaces in any group will be guaranteed in order of payments received, so it’s best to pay for all people in your group together with one reservation code. This way, we can guarantee that your permits, tickets for Machu Picchu, train tickets and tour will all be booked together in one single group. If you have an ISIC student card, please send us a scan of it so that we can charge you the discounted rate.
You can select additional options -- such as a personal porter, sleeping bag, upgraded hotel, Vistadome train upgrade, or other equipment -- by emailing us at [email protected]
Keep in mind that the most important thing is to secure your spots on the Inca Trail in advance -- so book early! Also remember that you need a passport valid for at least 6 months in order to enter Peru (if you are waiting for a new passport, book the tour with your current passport number and then send us a copy of your new passport numbers to validate your reservation).
You’ll need to pay a deposit of US$315 per person in Step 3, using Visa, MasterCard or PayPal.
How to Book a Multiday Package Tour with Inca Trail Trek
Permits are required, so please check available spaces on our availability page, to see if there are spaces available for your desired itinerary. You can also choose your preferred date on the page of the tour you are interested in, using the calendar located on the left side of the page. You’ll then need to provide us with your details -- and those of your group, if applicable. Once completed, you will receive a reservation code that you can use to pay your booking deposit online with Visa, MasterCard or PayPal.
How to Book Multiday Package Tours (without Inca Trail Trek)
Not worry for permits here! We offer daily departures, so you can book directly from the page of the tour you want to take. Choose a date from the calendar, which will generate a reservation code take you to the booking page. Fill out the forms and pay your deposit in Step 3 with Visa, MasterCard or PayPal (or transfer your deposit to our bank in Peru; email us for bank details).
How to Book Alternative Treks to Machu Picchu
Our alternative treks to Machu Picchu have fixed departure dates but no trail permits are needed. Choose your preferred departure date on the page of your desired trek, using the calendar on the left side of the page. Then provide your details and those of your group (if applicable). Once you’ve completed and sent the form, you will receive a reservation code to pay your booking deposit online with Visa, MasterCard or PayPal.
How to Book Other Treks, Tours and Packages
A similar booking process is in place for most of our remaining tours. On the page of the trek, tour or package that you’d like to book, simply choose a departure date using the calendar on the left side of the page. This will take you to a series of forms in which you can confirm your booking and provide us with all your necessary details. Once the final form is completed and sent, you will receive an email with a reservation code. Use this code to pay your booking deposit online with Visa, MasterCard or PayPal.
Please follow this same process for booking extension tours (for example: Ballestas Islands, Nazca Lines, Lake Titicaca, Colca Canyon, Amazon jungle trip) and trips to Manu National Park.
How to Pay Your Booking Deposit
Your booking deposit is paid in Step 3 of the reservation process. This can be done online using Visa, MasterCard or PayPal (these provide more immediate payments and are therefore better for securing Inca Trail permits). For payment with American Express card, please contact us on 051 84 256324 or 051 84 261920 (David or Irwin). Or you can Skype us at sas.travel or sas.travel.info with your credit card details for immediate payment.
As soon as we receive your deposit, we will go ahead and purchase your permit(s) for the Inca Trail trek and tickets for Huaynapicchu if requested. We will send you a final confirmation of your tour with detailed information within 24 working hours. If you do not receive your confirmation please send an email to: [email protected] or [email protected]
You must pay the full balance of your tour one month before the date of your tour departure using any of the payment options above.
If you need to amend or add anything to your final confirmation invoice (for example: rental of sleeping bags or trekking poles), please contact us at least six weeks prior to the tour. You can do this by responding to the email with your final confirmation and indicating the rental items you’d like added. We can then adjust your invoice accordingly and reconfirm the exact balance you need to pay by emailing you within that week. You also have the option to pay for rental and optional items in cash (USD) at our office in Cusco two days before the day of your tour; if you pay with credit or debit card in the office, there will be a surcharge fee of 8%.
Once we receive your payment in full, we’ll send you a further email with your confirmation and last minute details.
