We did the trek (4-day Inca trail, jungle and Colca canyon) a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely amazing. Very well organized and an extraordinary memory. Thank you sastravel, with John (Inca-trekk, nice, calm, caring and experienced guide. You are with us John!), Christian (Sacred valley, very good guide!), chef and porters. There is so much to say, but it is all superlatives.... I highly recommend you to friends who are asking about the adventure.
read moreWe trekked the Inca trail with SAS Travel in Cusco and it was a truly amazing experience, the food was top grade and the guides spoke excellent English and had great knowledge of the Inca sites and way of life which added a lot of value to the tour. Porters, cooks and guides are amazing. I would highly recommend.

We did the Classic Inca Trail 5day/4nights from July 24 to July 28, 2018 and had the most exhilarating experiences! Our guides, Levorio and Eder were absolutely incredible and were always a hoot. Everyone in our group of 13 got along perfectly. We had the time of our lives and I will never forget it!

Exceptionally beautiful because there are many Inka ruins to explore and incredible stone paved road (and more importantly for your lungs, there is a lot more down than up!!!). The nicer part of the entire trek is here, first the spectacular views at both sides of the mountains, after seen the "Apachetas" the 3 highest point enroute viewed from the first pass, and realize that the stone road connecting these small monasteries or temples are in a good condition and well maintained after hundreds of years. Little climb from the campsite to Runcurakay a semi-circular construction for ritual and offering purposes, afterward climbing more Inca steps to see 2 small lakes and little more to reach the second pass at 4,000 meters. "Runcuracay Pass" A great view to the Pumasillo snow-capped mountain. Then all our path is descending steps for 3 hours passing Sayacmarca, where we will have a break and have enough time to walk around this Inka complex to enjoy the stories and lectures from your guide and take some unique and beautiful pictures from this high corner, then we continue steps down to follow a granite rock road at the middle of the cloud forest near Chakicocha with an impressive view on front of us from the great Apu the Salkantay mountain which inspired to the builders to choose this beautiful area to build it. We will pass through the natural tunnel and get to our third campsite at Phuyupatamarca, the little town in the clouds, it’s a really nice campsite for the location of this place.
B - L - D
Get up early to enjoy the spectacular views, Phuyupatamarca means the town in the clouds.. so early at the morning it is misty and clouds cover it, after our breakfast and pack our gear, we continue steps down and stop at the complex to explore it and learn about the construction tecniques, a great place for pictures, afterward we follow descending the 2,000 steps to Wiñaywayna in the middle of cloud and rain forest vegetation, bambus and lianes, with luck you will see some varieties of humingbirds and the cock of the rocks "Gallito de las Rocas" the national bird of Peru. Then we will arrive to Wiñaywayna and Intipata both spectacular places to explore and visit, rest time for a shower in this small lodge, early lunch to continue the last part of our journey toward Intipunku, "The gate of the sun" the principal entrance to Machupicchu.
We will arrive in a perfect time to see the tranquility of this magic place and enjoy the sunset. It is still 40 minutes to walk down from Intipunku to Machupicchu. Here is the best spot to contemplate in the total dimmention the harmony that exist here, the footprints of a great civilization ruled by love, kindness and respect to the mother nature, the mixture of the nature and human work inspired and dedicated to our humankind creator.
After of this amazing time here, we board a bus to Aguas Calientes for 30 minutes . Hotel Viajeros will be witing for us in Aguas Calientes town, Time to go to the hot springs and our special Dinner. Early good night to rest enough for tomorrow our big day… visit, explore and discover of Machupicchu !! (There is an option to skip the night in Aguas Calientes town after your trek and if you prefere another night in camping, this can be sort it out easily, just please let us know.)
B - L - D
Early breakfast at Viajeros Hotel and accompanied by your tour guide we board the first bus up the the Sanctuary of Machupicchu for our full exploratory day, guided tour in the most and remarkable temples and areas of Machupicchu.
Machupicchu, the lost city of the Incas, where the last emperors, priests and priestesses took refuge and where the empire survived for 40 years after the arrival of the Spaniards. Secret and mysterious citadel from the time of Pachacutec Inca Yupanqui (IX-Inca`s Dinasty) emperor, his presumed constructor. Then apparently its existence was even well-known only by the authorities and the priests of the Tawantinsuyo “The four lands of the empire”. Machupicchu prodigy of architecture of aesthetic recklessness and by the magestic and harmony of its forms, by the impeccable organization of its terraces, stairs, buildings, patios, passages that are set up in this nest of condors, surrounded by mountains, between the mountain range and the forest like but the extraordinary constructive feat of the pre-Hispanic man.
Packed lunch will be provided, by 3 pm we board the bus down to Aguas Calientes.
At 16:30 pm train returning to Cusco arriving at 9:00 pm approx, then met by our driver for private transport to your hotel. * Please note Hotel Viajeros is not a 3 star hotel but is clean, safe and comfortable.

SAS Travel is supporting many of the community projects run by Hotel Marqueses: Eg. "Cusco Hospital Regional Project", "Walk a Mile in my shoes", "Shoes shiners boys" If you are coming to Cusco please make a space for a couple of second hand clothes, shoes especially for kids, school equipment, toys and drop them off in our office. We will help distribute the items to people who really need them in small village schools and communities in the mountains of Lares. The project in the Cusco Regional Hospital is partly play therapy and so larger durable toys (like second hand fisher price items) are lent to the children not as presents but as part of daily therapy activities and are always appreciated. Smaller toy/ gifts are used for children spending Birthdays in Hospital or who have been specifically identified as having a particular need. Medicines such as Rifamacina, are what are gifted for patients particularly in the Burns Unit. Any one bringing a donation is welcome to come with us to the hospital to see the project and donate personally. Thank you.
