Amazing Trek with SAS Travel.
We did the 5D/4N Salcantay Trek with SAS. We preferred this over the Inca trail. Much more scenic, no crowds, private campsites, waterfalls, snow capped mountains, etc. SAS was everything we were hoping they would be. No last minute surprises, they were there at the airport, Hotel Marqueses was splendid, breakfast was great, the guides were very knowledgeable and helpful. The tents were spacious (4 person tent for 2 people) No regrets, we highly recommend. PS, Food on the trek was out of this world. How they can prepare a 5 course meal on a mountain using fresh produce was beyond us...
Dear SAS Office Staff and Team,
We just finished up your Lares trek this evening and I wanted to write to tell you what a wonderful group of staff members you have. I’m sure you are already aware but both of our guides, Julio and Felipe, were incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and kind. It felt as though they constantly knew exactly what the group needed and made it happen and they were so positive during what I am sure could be a very difficult job. These type of trips depend so much on the outlook on the staff that lead them and I feel incredibly lucky to have had such wonderful guides.
In addition the food that was prepared by our chefs was so delicious and just to our dietary needs. We felt so lucky to try such delicious Peruvian food especially as vegetarians and have none better in Peru than on your trek. All of the staff were incredibly kind and friendly despite the hard work that they were doing and I would highly recommend every person that was a part of our team.
Thanks to you for putting together such a wonderful group of staff members and sharing them with us.
Words can not describe how amazing the Inka Trail hike is. with SAS. I had an incredible time. The trip was extremely well planned. Our main guide, Evert, was one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met. There was not a flower he did not know or an anthropological, or archaeological, question he could not answer. After the Inka Trail with him, one should earn three credits for college. Evert was assisted by the caring and helpful Cesar.

My wife, son and I just took the 3 day / 2 night tour to the Sacred Valley, Inca Trail, and Machu Picchu. The experience was fantastic. Hiking the Inca trail, even for one day gave us a unique perspective to the area and history. Martin, our tour guide in the Sacred Valley was attentive and informative. Diego, our guide for the trail and sanctuary did a wonderful job telling us about the cultural and natural history of the area. Overall we would book again with SAS Travel. Thank you so much!

Enjoy this new tour with an -off the beaten trek to Machu Picchu -the sacred Incan city through Choquequirao trail, before you will relax and admire the beautiful Cusco -the ancient Incan Capital city in XIV century and visit the wonders around the Sacred Valley as Saqsawaman, Koricancha, Awanacancha and Pisac.
Choquequirao trail is the second famous Incan Trail within the Inca road system near Cusco and Machu Picchu called Qhapaq Ñan -the Great Inca Trail, with more than 25,000 Km, integrating old territories of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, part of Chile and Argentina, it was constituted by a great road system (pre-Inca stone roads) in XV century -the Incas, the Andean people unified and built as part of a great political, military, ideological and administrative project named Tawantinsuyu -the empire of the 4 lands having Cusco o Qosqo as a spiritual and political capital city.

CHOQUEQUIRAW TREK + MACHUPICCHU TREK. The old Inca Trail.
Choquequirao or Choquekiraw means "Cradle of Gold" in Quechua Inca´s language, although this is probably not its original name. It is another "Lost City of the Incas" rediscovered officially late in 20th century located high on a ridge spur almost 1750 mts above the raging glacier-fed Apurimac River and surrounded by towering Salkantay and Humantay snow-capped peaks. Choquequirao was built during the last days of the Inca empire in the government of the Inca Pachacutec 1490, by Tupac Inca Yupanqui, and probably after the Spanish invasion in 1532. Almost 40 years the Incas held stand against the Spanish conquerors (between 1536 - 1572). The construction of the different levels of temples, palaces, canals, and aqueducts is really fantastic. "Choquequirao is the city which demonstrates the inspiring example of an elite Inca ceremonial center. A city dedicated to worship the “Pachamama” the Andean mother earth -the Apus, mountain gods and divinities, the river and the elements of nature." Choquequirao finally burned down and left deserted. This happened probably after the execution of the last Inca, Tupac Amaru I in 1572.
