- There is an option to stay at Hotel La Posada del Conde or Kuntur Wasi in Cabanaconde in 2 or 3 Day Colca Canyon trek in a private tour. Also it is possible to Continue the way to Puno from Chivay.

Moderate Trek Descending to the Colca Canyon

Program Itinerary

Day 1: Arequipa, Cabanaconde, San Juan de Chuccho.

Between 03:00am to 3:30am we collect you from your Hotels in Arequipa to travel to the Colca valley. We travel by bus approximately 4 hours to Chivay (the main town of the Valley). Here we stop for a late breakfast and to stretch our legs and then we continue towards Cabanaconde 3,287mts (approx 2 hours) After lunch we begin our 4 hour descent to the floor of the Colca Canyon. We will be able to appreciate the diverse Andean and tropical vegetation and also the geological formation of the Canyon, from the formation period of the mountain range of the andes. Once at the heart of the Canyon we will cross the San Juan de Chuccho suspension bridge to arrive to the town. Here we will spend the night with a local family in basic rustic accomodation. Time to interact with the locals and enjoy their hospitality and dinner.

Day 2: San Juan of Chuccho - Sangalle (Oasis)

After breakfast we re-commence our trek climbing gradually to the andean village of Tapay which is located at 2,900 mts . We will visit Coshñirhua and Malata Villages located at 2,600 mts and then we will visit an authentic church and way of life of the locals which are proud to preserve their traditions in a very rustic environment. Their customs lie very close to the "Pachamama" "mother earth". You will appreciate very beautiful landscapes, ancient farming terraces to cultivate potatoes and other crops, snow-capped summits and a variety of flora and fauna. At 13:00 pm we descend again to the Colca River and arriving to the Oasis or Sangalle Valley 2,100 mts we settle into our cabins of our chosen family or camping, relax at the swimming pool. After lunch there is time for exploration of the abandoned mines, waterfalls and opportunity to fish for trout in the Colca river, time to relax and enjoy this beautiful site.

Day 3: Cabanaconde - Chivay - Arequipa.

At 4.00am we start our 3 hour walk out of the canyon.. Once in Cabanaconde we will have breakfast at (7:45) and then head off for the Cruz del condor. We will stay for approx 1 hour here, to be able to appreciate the majestic flight of the Andean Cóndor. Soon we will continue on to arrive at Chivay at arrival 10:30 am. Once there we will have the opportunity to visit the thermal baths of medicinal waters with a temperature of 35 to 40ºC and opportunity for lunch in Chivay. At approx 1.30pm we will return to Arequipa arriving approx 17:00 pm. Transfer to your hotel.

Then you just need to pay a booking deposit, pay for 2 or more person in your group with 1 reservation code so we can secure all of you in a same group together.
  • Step 3.1- PAY A BOOKING-DEPOSIT with WESTERN UNION: US$70.00 per person through in order to: Irwin Poma Flores DNI 46612452 (SAS Travel, Cusco PERU) Upon transferring the money email us the Money Transfer Number (MTCN) copy of your reservation and amount paid to: office@sastravelperu.com and david@sastravelperu.com to confirm your deposit. We will confirm your reservation on the same day.
  • Step 3.2- PAY A BOOKING-DEPOSIT ONLINE with MASTER CARD or VISA.-US$ 73.50 per person. (US$ 70.00 plus 5% card charge.) As soon as we receive your deposit we will send you a final confirmation. (Paying with VISA card Visa card holders must be Affiliated to Visa Verified.) Check carefully after you `ve paid Online that it does not say "incorrect cardholder" or "operation denied" as this means the payment was not successful. Then Skype us **sas.travel.info or ring us on Tel: +051 84 261920 and give us the details over the phone for us to try and assist you quickly and confirm your reservation. If you don`t receive your Confirmation within 24 hours please send us an email to office@sastravelperu.com
  • FINAL PAYMENT: The remaining balance needs to be paid 14-2 days prior your tour in US$ Dollars cash or Peruvian soles (Exchange rate 2.90 Soles for US$1). Payments with credit / debit cards are accepted with a commission of 5%, Travelers' cheques with 3% only at our Office in Cusco.
  • Final payments of your tour IN ADVANCE with card it is possible, it will be with 5% extra or you can transfer the balance through Western Union under the same name.

Terms & Conditions

  • Terms and Conditions: Colca Canyon 3 Day/ 2 Night Trek
  • 1.-You must pay for your tour in full by 12:00 noon, 1 day before your departure.
  • Payment of your balance in the Cusco SAS office is requested in cash. US $ is easier but if you choose to pay in soles the rate charged is generally 3.0 soles = US$1 You can withdraw US$ or soles from the many ATM machines. You can pay in Arequipa if you are arriving to Cusco after this tour.
  • 2.- SAS Travel does not take responsibility for additional costs due to unfavorable weather conditions, natural catastrophe, strikes, accidents, illness, injury, loss of personal items, etc. It is the clients responsibility to carry insurance to cover these types of events. We reserve the right to modify or cancel the program due to any of the unforeseen conditions listed above.
  • 3.- SAS Travel will take all reasonable care in providing service to our clients to avoid accident, illness, loss of personal property and will only employ suitably qualified staff. We accept responsibility for the actions of our own employees. SAS Travel cannot however be responsible for any action or event that was unforeseeable or unavoidable. We also cannot be responsible for improper acts by clients or other third party for example Bus companies. You are totally responsable for your own personal property and rented equipment.

  • 5.- Cancelations by clients:
  • Cancelation of tour within 48 hours of departure incurs a loss of 30% of total tour cost if you are changing the tour to a alternative day or 50% of the tour cost for total cancellation.
  • Cancelation of tour on the day of departure incurs a loss of 80% of total tour cost.
  • 6.- When paying the balance, there will be a * 3% comission if you choose to use travellers cheques and a 5% comission for use of credit card.
