SAS Travel organized our Sunrise tour of Machu Picchu, and also a classic tour of Colca Canyon from Arequipa. All went well and we had a great time. We were picked up at our hotel on time, our guides were very informative and did a great job taking care of the group. The hotel in Aguascalientes was basic but we did not mind since we spent such a short time in it. The food was good. We had plenty of time for pictures, and exploring on our own in MP. We highly recommend SAS Travel, and we thank them for a memorable experience in Peru.

This has been one of the most tough yet exhilarating adventures I have experienced. I am not a very experienced hiker but fit for my young (51 years) age.
The scenery and archaeological site visits where worth every step. It was amazing.
The physical effort was sometimes demanding but the food provided in the rest breaks was perfect ; delicious, nutritious and plentiful.
The team who supported us - Guide, Chef and assistants, and horseman, where just incredible, thoughtful and so well organised.
We had a person on our team who was challenged with Soroche/ Altitude Sickness and the Guide supported and cared for him in an experienced and considerate manner. Fortunately this trekker managed to continued safely and enjoy completing the adventure.
Thank you for organising such an incredible adventure that gave mean opportunity to discover more of beautiful Peru and more about me!
With much appreciation, Chris

Finished the 4D/3N Lares Trek last night and can barely even find words for how amazing it was. This trek has been the most exciting portion of my travels through Peru thus far as an ESL teacher, and I want to motivate anyone who may be apprehensive towards booking it to just DO IT!
I could clearly see where every dollar went and it was worth every penny.
Our guide, Christian, was incredibly knowledgeable, hilarious, and caring. Our chef, Ricardo, made the most fantastic meals I have had in Peru, and we were lucky to have them both on our trip. The porters paid attention to every detail, and went as far as rolling up our sleeping bags for us while we were haing breakfast, and setting up our tents comfortably before even arriving to our camp destinations.
Macchu Picchu of course was breathtaking, and the tour was incredibly inspiring and informational. The trek itself was challenging and fun, though TOUGH at some parts. If I can offer some advice, acclimatize for 3 days at least before beginning this trek.
Once again, book with SAS. I can confidently say that I will book my future endeavors with them and will recommend to all of my friends and family to do the same.
Student rate USD$ 350.00 per person with ISIC Student card If you scan it through at the time of booking. Single supplement additional USD $20.00 pp.
Tour also includes the famous Huaynapicchu Mt walk while permits are available.
For many high season dates June, July, Aug you need to book about 1-3 months in advance to guarantee the Huaynapicchu Ticket since there is limited availability. For people who book at last minute there may not be any Huaynapicchu permits left and so we can buy the Machu-Picchu mountain permit instead however this is a real trek so if you prefer neither then let us know. Also if you have vertigo you probably don´t want to do Huayna Picchu so just let us know. ( See frequently asked questions for info on both the hikes).

2 Day "SUNRISE" Machupicchu experience !!! This option is clearly the most popular as it allows you to have plenty of time in Machupicchu and most importantly early in the morning to first encounter Machu Picchu as the sun rises over the high mountains encircling it....notice that visitors who take the 1 Day tour unfortunately will spend more hours inside the train, travelling... than spending time visiting Machupicchu...we highly recommend this 2 Day "SUNRISE" tour so you can discover this sanctuary. Machu Picchu is partly located in the Andes and partly in the Amazon rainforest, and it is characterized by tropical vegetation. The invaluable archaeological heritage of the Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary combines magnificently with the splendid natural surroundings that are the habitat for unique species of flora and fauna, some of them threatened with extinction.

Montana or Cerro Machu Picchu vs Huayna Picchu
The permit fee for Montana Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu are exactly the same but permits for Huayna Picchu generally run out quicker in the high season months June July and Aug.
Huayna Picchu has 2 session times one that starts from 7 -8 am and the other that starts from 10 -11am. This does not mean you only have 1 hour to go up and down (as some people like to sit up there for at least 30 mins). The hour slot is that people must start the hike between 7 am and just before 8am or from 10 am to just before 11 am. Ie you must enter ie pass the initial control checkpoint before the 8 or 11am time accordingly. For Montana Machu Picchu your permit can enter at any time.
Montana or Cerro Machu Picchu generally takes 3 hours (564 vertical meters (1850 ft) as it is much higher than the Huayna Picchu which takes about 1 to 1 and a half hours to climb up and down. Thus the views from Montana Machu Picchu are considerably better from the higher vantage point looking over not only Machu Picchu but also Huayna Picchu and the mountains beyond! Also Montana Machu Picchu is way less crowded!
Montana Machu Picchu tends to be a longer climb also with many inca stairs but less exposed and vertical. Various caves that contained skeletons when found by Hiram Bingham’s expedition are located at the base of Cerro Machu Picchu, leading to the area being called the ‘Upper Cemetery.’
Huayna Picchu is to be avoided if you suffer vertigo and both climbs are to be considered dangerous in bad weather.
