Last Minute Information

  • The Jorge Chavez Lima Airport was recently renovated it is safe, modern and very practical airport, International and Domestic flights are located together at one area so its not difficult to be ready for your next flight.
    Once you have all your luggage in a trolley, you just leave the arriving area and you walk straight through, hundreds of people waiting for their families... the area of Domestic flight checkings, is located on your left side you can see several Airlines counters, note Peruvian Airlines is Counter number 1, further down when is the last LAN counter, on the left side is the access through stairs or lift to the second floor where you will find different shops, restaurants, cafes, internet ,massages services.
    Best to choose any Coffee shop with comfortable couches for few hours rest.
    Boarding check start around 3:30 am.
    In Peru airports and Banks are not a recommend places to exchange US$ Dollars to Nuevos Soles Peruvian Money (they pay you the lowest rate on town) , best to use Casa de Cambios or ask in your Hotel. In Cusco Money exchangers are on Avenida Sol (El Sol street).

Day 1: Day 1: Flight Tickets Lima to Cusco. Reception and transfer to Hotel Marqueses.

Check in for your flight with the E tickets we send you.
Reception in Cusco airport and Transfer to Marqueses Boutique Hotel where they will welcome you with cups of coca leaf tea a traditional drink to minimize the efects of altitude, Relax,rest and acclimatise. We advise you to get an early flight so you can just spend your first 2 hours in Cusco seriously doing nothing but trying to breathe!!
If you are feeling fine this afternoon you can go to the Cusco Folk Dances and Music at Cusco Art Center in the main Ave el Sol. which are included on your tourist ticket 6.30pm 10 min slow walk from Hotel Marqueses. Accommodation: Hotel Marqueses

At 13:45 pm A Guided Cusco City Tour, Excursion, visiting Koricancha "The Sun Temple" the golden Inca`s temple that impressed so much to the first spanish conquistadores when they arrived in 1534 ,Cusco main Cathedral with their exquisite canvas from the Cuzqueña Painting School, chapels, Virgins and Saints , Saqsayhuaman Inca Complex, where every year in June in the winter solstice in this hemisphere the young Cuzqueños perform the old and traditional Feast of the Sun "Inti Raymi" in honor to the Sun, then we visit Tambo Machay, Qenqo and Puca-Pucara.

Day 3: Sacred Valley full day tour Hotel Marqueses- Pre departure breafing for IncaTrail at 7 pm

Guided tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas Pisaq Ruins and Market , Yucay The Valley of Urubamba, Ollantaytambo.
Morning at 08:30 am: Departure from Cusco in direction of the Sacred Valley. This Tour includes a Visit to the Pisac colourful Handcraft Market, Pisac archaeological Park, Ollantaytambo Inca Fortress and Return to Cusco via Chinchero site and Market. Overnight at the Marqueses hotel. Breakfast Included. Meals: Breakfast Accommodation: Hotel Marqueses

Day 4: Day 4: Inca Trail –Hike the Classic Inca Trail to Machupicchu -Group trek (with shared porter 6 Kg pp)

Early bus transfer to Piscakucho Km 82 (start of Inca Trail). Commence Inca Trail Trek . We leave Cuzco and set off on our three-hour drive via Ollantaytambo to the Trail's starting point at Km 82. snack is provided on the route. The first half-day walk is fairly easy and on an undulating path, which follows the left side of the Urubamba River for much of the way. After lunch a gentle climb takes us to our camp at Huayllabamba (2900m). There are a couple of steep drops and climbs into gullies along the way, with great views of Mt Veronica standing at 5860 m.

Day 5: Day 4: Inca Trail to Machupicchu –

Today we climb the famous "Dead Woman's Pass" (4198m). We set off through cloud forest on climbing mountain trail. There is a wonderful array of exotic plants and we may even see hummingbirds collecting nectar from the flowering shrubs along the way. There is a small respite from the constant climb as we rest for lunch on a flat grassy meadow and then it's back into it with the last 400m of ascent in front of us. Stone steps take us up to and over the pass. In front of us is the most beautiful mountain vista, and we can see the meandering trail that lays ahead, our trek for tomorrow. Steep steps take us down to our camp at Pacaymayo 3600m. Walk 6 hours Camping and Meals

Day 6: Day 4: Inca Trail – (Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca, and Wiñay-Wayna

Explore and visit of Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca, and Wiñay-Wayna. Inca temples enroute. Inca Trail Trek Today sees some great hiking through cloud forest on well maintained Inca paths and steps. An hour of climbing out of camp takes us to the second pass (3900m) from where we descend three thousand steps via the ruins of Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca, and Wiñay-Wayna. We will have a guided tour of each of these ruins. The afternoon is spent on 'classic' Incan steps traversing the hillsides and passing numerous ruins set amongst the forest. Walk 7 hours

Day 7: Day 4: Inca Trail Trek to Machu Picchu - Early arrive to Machupicchu, explore and guided tour.

Inca Trail Trek to Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes Hostal Viajeros A very early start means that we can hike the last hour or so of the trail to Inti Punku, the sun gate, for sunrise. Our first glimpse of Machu Picchu through the morning mist is stunning, and we can spend the day touring the ruins. In the afternoon we take a bus down the hill to Aguas Calientes to soak in the relaxing hot springs. We overnight in Aguas Calientes Hostal Viajeros. Walk 3 hours

Day 8: Morning Train Return to Cusco , Rest afternoon Hotel Marqueses.

After Breakfast you are assisted to board the train that departs Aguas Calientes at 08.53 am and arrives at Ollantaytambo at 10.30 am . Then on to Cusco by local bus. Rest of day free to recover or just enjoy a wander through the streets of this combination of Inca Empire and Colonial Style architecture and culture Meals: Breakfast Accommodation: Hotel Marqueses

Day 9: Cusco Puno, Inka Express Class tourist bus to Lake Titicaca - Puno. Qalasaya Hotel Puno

6.45 am transfer from Hotel Marqueses . Spectacular journey with buffet lunch in Sicuani and tours with English speaking guide to Andahuaylillas, Raqchi, La Raya & Pukara. Bus is fully equipped for tourism. Please have some soles for the entrance fees. Aprox total $8
On arrival to Puno transfer to the beautiful 4 star Qalasaya hotel

Day 10: Lake Titicaca- Floating Island tour to Uros and Amantani Meals: Breakfast - Lunch – Dinner Accommodation: rustic family lodging.

8.00am Transfer from the hotel to the port and by motor boat we take you to one of the legendary Uros Islands where you can observe the lives of the Uros people who live on floating reed islands some only 20 metres in length. After a beautiful 3hr boat ride we reach Amantani island where we will break into smaller groups to stay with the local families. We will trek to the top of the mountain (4150 mtrs) to see the Temples of the Pachamama and Pachatata and enjoy the traditional customs of the island people. Food and authentic music prepared and performed by your designated family. Meals: Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner Accommodation: rustic family lodging

Day 11: Taquile island –Puno Overnight in Puno hotel Meals: Breakfast – Qalasaya hotel Puno

Short boat ride to the neighbouring Taquile island, where we will tour around the ruins and visit these beautiful people, world famous for their intricate and fascinating weavings, lunch and return trip to Puno. Arrival in the afternoon and transfer back to hotel approx 5 pm. Overnight in Puno hotel Meals: Breakfast - Lunch Accommodation: Qalasaya hotel Puno

Day 12: Direct Bus from Puno to Chivay to see the Condors at Colca Canyon Colca Inn

6am transfer to transport 4M express to Chivay depart Puno 6.30 beautiful journey through to Chivay where you can truly appreciate the Pre-Inca farming Terraces / platforms know as "andenerias". Approx 12.45pm you will join the part of group that started from Arequipa and continue tour from here together for lunch and then to see the beautiful landscapes, local people.

Day 13: Chivay –Arequipa Afternoon Bus to Nazca arrive in the morning 6.00 am

Early excursion to the famous Crus de Condor to see the condors soaring on the thermal currents rising from the Canyon and visit other sites on the return to Chivay.
After lunch enjoy the journey to Arequipa ! We will pass the crater of an extinct volcano (Chucura) and see the famous volcanos panorama from 4.800 meters above sea level. After we pass through the Aguada Blanca National Park, the habitat of the beautiful South American Cameloidaes, the vicuñas, alpacas, waris and llamas we will view the snow-covered Chachani mountain.
Arrival Arequipa between 5 and 6pm. After Dinner you are transfered to the Bus Terminal for your tourist transport to Nazca (comfortable reclinable seats) 8-9 hours.

Day 14: Flight over Nazca Lines, Tour to Chauchilla. 2 Hrs Bus to Paracas Hostel Mirador.

Our arrival to Nazca is approx at 06:00 am. Our representant in Nazca will wait for you at Bus Terminal and then transferred to the grounds of Hotel Maisson Suisse to rest and relax. There are a couple of local restaurants nearby where you can buy breakfast if you like or also in the hotel but many prefer to eat something after the flight instead!

Between 8:00 am and 8.30am you are transferred to the Nazca Aerodromo for your Flight over the mysterious Nazca Lines. Approximately 35 Minutes flying over this enigmatic "pampas", where hundreds of years ago ancient Peruvians drew huge designs, which can be seen only from the air. Afterwards, we will visit the Pre-Inca Cementry of Chauchilla. After touring around we go back to Nazca to visit a Ceramic Studio, where a craftsman will give us a better insight about the Nazca Civilization and the colorful vessels they made hundreds of years ago. The local factory with the process of Gold extraction will be also visited. Free time for lunch. Afternoon Bus to Paracas.

Day 15: 8:00 am Boat tour to Ballestas Islands , Tour to the Paracas Reserve 2 Hrs At 1.30 Bus to Lima

07.45am after your breakfast we will transfer you to the mole of Paracas where you will take a motorboat excursion to the Ballestas island. These Islands are spectacular, eroded into numerous arches and caves, which provide shelter for thousands of seas lions and seabirds, some of which are very rare. The Islands are known as "The Galapagos of Peru".. A boat tour to the Ballestas Islands will be the perfect deal for those in search of marine life. Touring around these small Islands visitors may easy spot hundreds of birds, Humboldt penguins and dozens of sea lions, resting on the shores of the Islands. In addition, visitors will also see a huge figure etched on the slope of a hill known by the locals as "El Candelabro".

Free time for a relaxing Lunch before a 1pm transfer to the 13.30pm Ormeño Royal Class Bus or Cruzero Bus to Lima arriving to Lima approximately at 8:00 pm (End of our services)

But please complete details of your companion or group on lines below: Travelling with: (write Full names, Passport number, Age and Nationality). Once you finish sending us all your details you will receive a Reservation Code (eg: 240611001). Then you just need to pay your deposit, pay for 2 or more person in your group with ONE Reservation Code, so we can guarantee all your permits, tickets for Machupicchu, train tickets and tour all together in a group.
  • How to make your deposit and confirm your spots on the tour:

  • Step 3.- PAY A BOOKING-DEPOSIT ONLINE with MASTER CARD or VISA.- US$ 420.00 per person. (US$ 400.00 + 5% card charge). Payments by credit card will carry a surcharge of 5%. As soon as we receive your deposit we will procced purchasing your Permits for Inca Trail trek, tickets etc . We will send you a final confirmation of your tour with detailed information shortly.   • FINAL PAYMENT: The remaining balance needs to be paid at your arrival to Cusco in US$ Dollars cash or Peruvian soles (Exchange rate 2.90 Soles for US$1). Payments with credit / debit cards are accepted with a commission of 8%, Travelers' cheques with 3% only at our Office in Cusco.
  • Final payments of your tour IN ADVANCEwith card it is possible, it will be with 5% extra or you can transfer the balance through Western Union.

Terms & Conditions

  • Cancellation by Client:
  • Should the client wish to cancel, cancellation charges will be imposed.
  • These are calculated from the day written document is received by SAS Travel.
  • The charges are shown below:
  • - 60 and more days before departure: retention of deposit. (In addition 100% of fully non-refundable flights tickets cost will be retained and US$250 Inca Trail fee).
  • 59 to 30 days before departure: 75% of total price. (In addition 100% of fully non-refundable flights tickets cost will be retained and US$250 Inca Trail fee).
  • Less than 30 days: 90% of total tour cost.
  • If a party has booked as 2 people and then one person cancels but the other person continues with the tour the single supplement must also be paid as part of the cancellation as the other person now enters into a one person contract for the tour requiring the additional single supplement to be covered.
  • Check these Conditions with your Travel Insurance which you should purchase before flights or plans to travel if possible.
  • We are always willing to try and help you and if possible we can try to be more flexible on the above policy if the situation permits.
  • We strongly recommend that full travel insurance is taken (Eg, Nomad Travel Insurances) which includes cover, under certain circumstances, against the loss of deposit or cancellation charges.
  • Please note that no reimbursements are given when cancellations occur or for any unused services.
  • SAS Travel Conditions of 4 Day Inca Trail to Machupicchu. 4 Days / 3 Nights
  • 1.- You must advise SAS Travel of any medical problems or allergies. You need to be in good physical health and if your health is questionable, then you should consult a doctor. If you are over the age of 65, then you will need to present us with a current medical certificate.
  • 2. You must advise your guide if you wish to leave the group or the camping area for independent walks or sightseeing. If you are experiencing any problems with the service of the guide or tour
  • please advise the guide in that moment so he can resolve any problems as soon as possible.
  • 3. The student US$40 discount for use of student cards is regulated by the park itself, not SAS travel. All student ISIC cards are validated by the control of the park and only accepted if you scanned a clear copy of your valid 2011 ISIC card through with your deposit at the time of booking and it was confirmed. A Youth Travel card is not accepted by the control.
  • 4. You must carry your original passport and valid ISIC card (if applicable) on the trail, If you do not take the correct passport as indicated in your permit, the control will annul your permit and refuse you entrance to the trail. If for any reason, you organize a new passport after we have purchased your permits, you must bring the old passport with you, or if this is impossible advise us in writing with a scan of the old passport and your new passport for us to present to the INC with official documentation to avoid problems. Administration charge for this formal change is $15.
  • 5. Unless you hire an extra porter you need to carry your back pack, sleeping bag and the mattress. if you want an extra porter (for the full trip) you must have booked this with your original booking form as they require permits as well.
  • Change of dates is not possible after a permit has been processed. It is non transferable nor refundable. The deposit will be forfeited. Please note that we do this because we are prohibited to re-sell your spot after you have cancelled.
  • 6.If while on tour something arises and you feel you cannot do the trek we can organise an alternative tour to visit Machu Picchu by train with overnight in Aguas Calientes joining your group and completing the tour as normal from here.
  • 7. If you become ill or injured on the trail and are unable to continue, a porter will be provided to accompany you back to an area with emergency assistance capabilities. helicopter air lifts and medical assistance are paid at the expense of the passenger. if you fail to complete the tour due to illness we will assist you to meet with your group at machupicchu to recommence your tour at that point, although there will be no refund from the original payment.we will, however, present you with a document to certify illness and which can be used to present to your travel insurance company.
  • 8. SAS Travel will take all reasonable care in providing service to our clients to avoid accident, illness, loss of personal property and will only employ suitably qualified staff. We accept responsibility for the actions of our own employees. SAS Travel cannot however be responsible for any action or event that was unforeseeable or unavoidable. We also cannot be responsible for improper acts by clients or other third party. You are totally responsable for your own personal property and rented equipment.
  • 9. SAS Travel does not take responsibility for additional costs due to unfavorable weather conditions, natural catastrophe, strikes, accidents, illness, injury, loss of personal items, etc. It is the clients responsibility to carry insurance to cover these types of events. We reserve the right to modify or cancel the program due to any of the unforeseen conditions listed above.
  • 10.- In extreme cases when “ Inca trail to Machupicchu” is declared closed for safety reasons SAS travel can replace your trek with an alternative trek such as 4 day Lares trek or 4 day Choquequirao trek and your booking deposit money will be used for this or if you prefer an alternative tour such as 4 day lake Titicaca package or Jungle trip etc.to give you some of the many options.
  • 11. When paying the balance, there will be a * 3% comission if you choose to use travellers cheques and a 8% comission for use of credit card. So it is requested that the final balance is paid 1 month before arrival by Western Union and when this is confirmed all the final vouchers and reconfirmation is sent as the tour is paid in full.
