We highly recommend Marqueses Boutique Hotel in Cusco, it is a beautiful and charming Colonial house built at the end of XVI century that has recently been restored and refurbished, located just one block from Cusco`s mayor Plaza. This great location is part of its popularity, close to all of the most important tourist attractions in the famous capital of Inca`s Empire. Well known for its incomparable hospitality and professional service. We can reserve the hotel and transfers you from the airport on your arrival and back on your return, you will enjoy a safe visit, wonderful attention and be pleasantly surprised by the warmth of the Andean Hospitality.
Due to the safe and strategic location you are within easy walking distance of the many historical places, museums, restaurants, cultural, artistic and traditional places of the Imperial Inca City.
SAS Travel Tour Operator & Agency offices are located alongside Hotel Marqueses so we at SAS Travel can assist you at any time.
Hello David and Robyn,
My name is Cathy and I just returned from an amazing trip to Peru. I was lucky enough to randomly book the 8 day Cusco package through SAS which included the 4D/3N Inka Trek. First and foremost, I must say how impressed I am with the quality of service, professionalism of the staff and genuine sincerity of the tour guides and porters. The food was AMAZING and you truly have a very hardworking and dedicated staff. I will be sure to recommend SAS to my friends and colleagues.
Muchos gracias !! for a great experience.

“Hands down the best tour group to trek Macchu Picchu”
I've already sent multiple people with SAS on my recommendation and they all come back like I do: Singing their praises!
All of the trek companies basically offer the same package (hiking with food provided along the same trail), to the details really matter. Here is where I believe SAS is a cut above:
--Food: I really believe we ate much better than any other group I saw during our trek. On top of that, no one in our group was sick, despite the fact that they're cooking for a bunch of white people in the Peruvian mountains. That is impressive in and of itself, the each meal was unique and delicious.
--Group dynamics: They really try to have each tour be a group of people that will get along and enjoy each others' company during the trek. The guides are great, at least 1 per 8 hikers, and really add to the group in their own ways.
--Porters: They take good care of them and actually make them part of the experience, twice we all stood in a circle and introduced all of ourselves; we were a group making this trek together. The porters are hard working and encouraging; when you arrive into camp the tents are set up and they have hot water waiting for you to wash your face.
The Inca Trail Hike is an incredible journey and a lifelong memory. SAS Travel is the perfect way to experience it.
Hi SAS Travel,
Few days ago we finished a nice adventure in the mountains for me and my friends it was an incredible tour, Hilbert did a great job , serious, historical information of the archeological sites. The Inca trail is an amazing trip.
Awesome in every single way, would not change anything, meals were superb, coordinator Valerio he is very charming man, the porters are nice people and very friendly. Thanks, I would recommend SAS Travel, we made this adventure with the best company..

Completed the 4 day Inca Travel with my daughters yesterday. Delivered everything it promised, giving this over 50 an incredible life lesson ending in spiritual paradise of MachuPicchu.
Even the landslide which required some re-routing did not phase our excellent guides Rueben and Danny who ensured the changes proceeded smoothly while keeping a diverse but fun group entertained. This professionalism was evident in the way they assisted, but not rescued, me in overcoming the Dead Women's Pass on Day 2 in difficult conditions. (yes, I did choose the wet season)
Highly recommended for all who like a challenge.
Hola,
Just a quick message to say thank you for a fantastic four day hike to Machu Picchu with your company SAS Travel on 7th Nov 2011.
Your porters and guides were always so helpful, friendly, patient and professional.
I really liked the way the guides sat with us every evening, ate this is something I found quite unique about your tour compared to other tours I had done in South America the guides wanted to make us feel at ease and share a laugh or two about the days events!
The tour was so well planned out and no doubt you have heard many times the variety and quality of the food you provided was world class.
I would like to take this opportunity to highly recommend the two tour guides we had in particular Hugo Santos. He was an amazing guide so patient and kind to me when I found it difficult in places especially dead women's pass on the second day. He was with me every step of the way with a big smile on his face sharing words of encouragement with me........his kindness will never be forgotten.
Keep up the good work SAS !
I will continue to recommend your tours to fellow travels who ask for advise..
Thanks again, Nora Lennon.

Depart from: Cusco
Duration: 4 Day/3 Night
Highlights: no crowded campsites or trails, walking with the local andean people, Ollantaytambo, Sacred Valley and Machupicchu !
If you are interested in the Inca Trail for any Dates before Dec 2011 then you have already missed out on permits. This may at first seem totally devastating but there are some Alternative treks to Machu Picchu such as this which do not require the same permits and so are available. This is not just a perfect alternative if you miss out on Inca trail permits but many people choose this trek instead of Inca trail for its cultural aspect of visiting remote andean villages on and off the beaten track style trek. Where the inca trail has become a bit too popular Lares still has moments when you are the only people to be gazing over the stunning emerald lake from a high mountain pass! There will most probably be some alpacas accompanying you. There are less Inca arquelogical sites along the trail itself until you get to Machu Pîcchu but if you like awesome scenery and alpacas then this is for you!
Also this is a great trek if you have already visited Machu Picchu and just want to do another high altitude 3 day trek as you can return to Cusco from Yanahuarra instead of going on to Machu Picchu and this cuts the cost of course as well!
Distance: 46 Km/ 29 Miles
When to go: Best from April to October
Altitude:2700m/8883ft to 4600m/15134ft
Difficulty: especially in the first part of the trek you will most likely feel difficulty breathing in altitude, will have to stop frequently to regain your breath and will find you have very little energy and will need to walk far slower than usual. It is very common to feel extremely short of breath while ascending and this is always a shock in the beginning of the Lares trek where it is a steady continuous climb to the first pass. This is to be expected and every one finds this very difficult and state of mind is very important at this point..but wel rewarded once you reach the top of the first pass!
..we walk in the footsteps of the local people, farmers, arieros and their mules along rocky trails. My feet still hurt!
Briefing 7pm night before your trek departure at our SAS office.

Our route takes us through many small village communities that offer a rare & fascinating insight into traditional Andean life. Finally we make our way by train to Aguas Calientes and continue on to Machu-Picchu, the legendary Lost City of the Incas. We have plenty of time to explore this renowned and fascinating site, climb to Huayna Picchu, walk to Sun-Gate etc.
Our private bus leaves Cusco at 04.30 sharp for a scenic drive through the Sacred Valley, passing through Pisac and stopping for a brief toilet break and the chance to buy any last minute snacks, water, etc in Calca, one of the towns in the valley. Departing Calca around 06:45 we head off for the scenic drive to Quishuarani (3,700m /12,150 ft) which is the starting point for the trek. Along the way you will be able to observe small Andean communities, spectacular mountain landscapes, herds of llamas and alpacas plus Campesinos (people of the local villages) in colorful costumes as is traditional with all villages around Lares major district. A box breakfast will be served en route around 9am with arrival to Quishuarani before 10am, where we will meet our arriero horses, handlers and trek staff. We commence our beautiful trek through the Andes with a gentle climb from 3700m to 4200 masl where we will arrive at the lagoon named Queuña Cocha and can observe Mount Sawasiray (5400m) and Colque Cruz (5600m). There is then a short, steeper climb to our first pass, Hualcacasa (4400m) where Mount Veronica (5700m, a sacred Apu mountain in this Valley) can often be observed in the high mountains, after which we descend for 30 minutes to reach our lunch destination beside the picturesque 'seven lagunas'. Following lunch we descend for a further 30 minutes through the community of Cuncani, then gradually ascend beautiful hillsides for 2 hours to reach our second pass, Qolqecasa (4200m). 30 minutes descent from here past lagunas and waterfalls till we arrive at Yanacocha, our campsite for the night around 4.30pm.

We then ascend for approximately 1 and a half hours to our lunch destination on the 'spongy grass' by a glacial stream, Champacocha. After our lunch rest we ascend for approximately an hour to reach the highest point of our trek, the passage of Auroracasa (4600m) where we will observe the lagoon Auroracocha. >From Auroracasa we will descend to walk near two lagoons & traverse one more pass to enter the valley of Queuñas.
