Dear
SAS Travel :
I would just
like to say thank you and we had the most amazing holiday.
We found the staff at SAS Travel to be very friendly
and helpful. The tours we went on were fantastic and
superbly organised. The INKA trail was awsome and Freddy
our guide was just excellent!! He was so informative
and had great knowledge and love of his country. We have
never been on a tour before and were aprehensive as we
are so used to just back packing and doing our own thing,
but with such little time we thought this was the best
way to do it, we had read reviews about your travel agency
and thought we would give it a go...we are so glad we
did. Thankyou very much as we have already recommend
you to our friends going to peru !
Best_Regards,
Kalea
Haran.

April 2007. I took your tour
over a year ago and am realizing I may never have commented:
you were *fantastic*! I loved Leo and our other tour
guides, and the food and service were impeccable. I still
refer people to you.Thank you!
Diane
Bisgeier.
Saturday,
14 April 2007. Almost a year has
passed since my visit to Peru. In Cusco, a quiet woman
tied an Inca cross around my neck -- promising it would
bring good luck as long as it remained attached to
me. Eleven months later, I wake to find the thin twine
still standing guard over my future...and the good
luck has certainly followed. Before the trek, I worried
I would suffer in the high altitudes. Upon reaching
Dead Woman's Pass, I kept proclaiming, "I have
never felt so alive! " Our tour guides, Virgilio and
Alex, were exceptional, as were the porters and chefs.
I think about my fellow hikers all the time. If you
are contemplating a trip to the Andes...do it! SAS
met every expectation and is worth every penny. Few
adventures will change your life, so seize them when
they cross your path. I am forever grateful.

Hello SAS
We just wanted to stop by and let you know how much we
enjoyed the Machu Picchu tour with SAS. Our guides were
Carlos and Raul. We took part in the three day trek on
March 10th and just can not express how happy we were
with not only the amazing guides and their enthusiasm
but with the hard working porters and great food. We
little Canadians just want to thank you for putting together
such a well organised tour. An experience we will
never forget.
Thanks Nell
and Aimee.
April 2007 what
an amazing trek. Javier and Raul along with the hearts
and legs of our porter crew made this such a memorable
experience. The rain did not sway any one of our groups
intensity. Raul and Javier even carried one member up
the first pass for 15 minutes.I loved every minute of
it and would do it all again in an instant.
Thank
you MY FRIEND ! Special
thanks ! Hello, I just wanted to deliver special thanks
to our guide Jose Luis on the inka trail 12.-15.12.
Every one of the group thought he was the best guide:
thoughtful, patient, he took very good care of our group
and he had a great sense of humour. Without him
our trail wouldn't have been such an amazing and unforgettable
experience. Yours, Emmi
Hanninen.
Comments:
Two friends and I just returned from 9 days travelling
in Peru and taking part in the Lares Valley trek and
Tambo Jungle Lodge excursion. We
could not be more pleased with the experience. As
three guys fresh out of university, the tours were incredible,
the guides (Henry for Lares and Carlos for jungle) were
second to none and expressed a true passion for their
jobs and homeland. It was truly a moving experience
and I would recommend it to anyone.

This itinerary has been very popular
most people prefering to take a connecting flight direct

it can take over an hour to get through immigrations and

) to Machupicchu , Tambo Jungle Lodge
- Sandoval Lake, Lima.
Day 1 - Arrive Lima Arrive in Lima on an evening
flight as you begin your holiday in Peru! You will be met
at the airport and driven to your hotel in the trendy Miraflores
area of the city in time to take a walk around the elegant
Parque Kennedy and perhaps to take in an evening meal on
your first night in Peru. Of course, since this is your first
night on holiday in Peru, then if you're feeling up to it
then Miraflores is a great place for a night out...Hotel
Imperiale Miraflores.
Day 2 – The White City of Arequipa - Fligh Lima-Arequipa. After
a lie-in to recover from your flight, we will take you back
to the airport to catch a flight up to Arequipa - 'The White
City'. This is probably the most beautiful city in Peru -
a kind of Seville at the foot of a snow-capped volcano! We
will meet you at the airport to take you to your hotel and
you will then have the rest of the day free to rest or to
visit some of the fantastic sights in Arequipa such as the
monastery of Santa Catalina.Posada Castillo Hotel.
Day 3 – Free day in the White City of Arequipa We'll
given you a free day in Arequipa so you can relax and settle
into your holiday. It's just such a lovely place to wander
around so perhaps you might like to explore the colonial
centre, with its churches and museums? For some hustle and
bustle you could check out the local markets or, to get that
perfect photo, maybe take a walk up to the Yanahuara mirador
for a stunning view of the El Misti volcano? Posada
Castillo Hotel.
Day 4 – Into Colca Canyon to see the Andean Condor. Today,
you'll set out from Arequipa on a guided tour of Colca Canyon.
The Canyon is deeper than the Grand Canyon and is home to
a stunning array of wildlife and also some great natural
hot springs! You will stay overnight in a hotel in Chivay,
a small town right in the middle of the Canyon.
Day 5 – Colca Canyon A very early start
this morning, as your guide and driver take you to the 'Cruz
del Condor', a natural viewpoint opposite the nesting-sites
of the famous Andean Condors. We'll arrive in time to see
these majestic birds launch themselves into the Canyon as
they set out on their day's hunt. After spending more time
in the Canyon, you will return to Arequipa in the evening
to enjoy some of its superb andean cuisine (can we recommend
the stuffed peppers!! ) in one of the restaurants overlooking
the bustling and beautiful main square.Posada Castillo Hotel.
Day 6 - Travel to Puno This morning we will
take you to the coach station to travel to Puno, on the shores
of Lake Titicaca. You will have the rest of the day free
to get used to the altitude (3,800m) - many people find the
elevation a little hard to handle at first so you may just
want to rest up in your hotel with some coca tea before venturing
out. Either way, there's plenty to occupy your time in Puno
and it's the perfect place to pick up those alpaca scarves...
Hotel Buho.
Day 7 - Lake Titicaca Today you
will leave your hotel in the morning for an all-day trip
out onto Lake Titicaca. You will get the chance to visit
the floating reed islands and also the stunning 'real' island
of Taquile, with its Inca ruins. The lake is truly a very
special place and as you feel the sense of peace and tranquility
as you get out in the middle of the lake you can understand
why it became the focal point for successive Andean religions. Lunch
Included. Hotel Buho Puno.
Day 8 – Along the Andes to Cusco We
will pick you up in the morning to take you to the station
to catch the coach to Cusco - the ancient Inca capital. This
is one of the most spectacular road journeys in the world
as you travel right along the spine of the Andes and is an
amazing experience as you stop off at several sites of interest
along the way. On arrival, we'll take you to your hotel,
just off the main square at the heart of Cusco. Hotel
Marqueses Cusco
Day 9 – City Tour of Cusco Today
will be spent on a tour of the main sites in the city itself,
and also in the surrounding hills. You will visit the fortress

and many other unique and beautiful locations. You will have
the evening free to relax and enjoy a meal overlooking the
lively central square. Hotel Marqueses Cusco

day away from Cusco today as you journey into the Andes for
a tour of the Sacred Valley of the Urubamba. As you wind
your way along one of the most beautiful valleys in the world,

its famous market and temple) and the temple-fortress of
Ollantaytambo. You really begin to feel the spirit of the
Incas as you visit these extraordinary locations. Buffet
Lunch Included Hotel Marqueses Cusco.
Day 11 – Free day in Cusco A holiday
isn't a holiday if you don't have a chance to relax so today
is all yours – you can have a wander around the local
markets, stroll through the bohemian San Blas district and
check out the art and jewellery, or just sit back with a
few coca teas and get those postcards written before you
set off on…
Day 12 – The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu (If not available
due to Permits; Lares or Salkantay Trek) A
spectacular early morning drive back through the Sacred Valley
takes us to our trailhead at Km. 82 of the Machu Picchu railroad.
After getting acquainted with our porters you will set out,
crossing a footbridge to hike a gentle two hours down the
Urubamba canyon, and then visit imposing sculpted Inca farming
terraces and the settlement of Llaqtapata on the banks of
the Cusichaca side river. We then climb a short way up the
Cusichaca valley to Huayllabamba, the last inhabited village
on the trail, where we camp.
Day 13 – The Inca Trail We climb the steep-sided
Llullucha valley past a rushing stream and through enchanting
subtropical woodland. Crossing the rim of a small plateau,
we find ourselves in the puna, the treeless grasslands of
the high Andes. The trail traverses an open slope opposite
mighty mountain crags as we ascend to the first and highest
pass, Warmiwañusca (4,200m). Here we encounter spectacular
views of the trail ahead to the second pass, and look back
to the sweeping snowpeaks and valleys of the Huayanay massif.
We then follow the trail to the floor of the Pacaymayo valley,
where we camp for the night.
Day 14 – The Inca Trail This morning, we pick up
an Inca stairway and ascend again past the small Inca site
of Runkuracay. As we reach the second pass, the landscape
opens onto spectacular new views to the snowpeaks of the
Pumasillo range. We descend to the ruins of Sayacmarca (Inaccessible
Town), an intricate labyrinth of houses, plazas and water
channels, perched precariously on a rocky spur overlooking
the Aobamba valley. The Inca trail, now a massive buttressed
structure of granite paving stones, continues along the steep
upper fringes of the cloud forest through a colorful riot
of orchids, bromeliads, mosses and ferns. At the third pass
pinnacles topped with Inca viewing platforms overlook the
archaeological complex of Phuyupatamarca (Cloud-level Town).Pausing
to explore the maze of Inca stone towers, fountains and stairways
that spills down the mountainside here, we begin a long descent
through ever-changing layers of cloud forest. An Inca stairway
partly cut from living granite leads us finally to our camp
by the ruins of Wiñay Wayna (Forever Young), the largest
and most exquisite of the Inca Trail sites.
Day 15 – The Inca Trail An
early morning hike takes us across a steep mountainside through
lush, humid cloud-forest of giant ferns and broad-leaf vegetation.
Suddenly we cross the stone threshold of Intipunku (Sun Gate)
and encounter an unforgettable sweep of natural beauty and
human artistry –a backdrop of twisting gorge and forested
peaks framing the magical city of Machu Picchu. We complete
the final leg down the royal flagstone walkway, past outlying
shrines and buildings and into the heart of Machu Picchu,
where we spend the rest of the morning with a guided tour
of the highlights and some individual exploring among Machu
Picchu’s multitude of hidden nooks and corners. In
the early afternoon a bus takes us down to the foot of the
mountain to the small town of Aguas Calientes, where you
will be staying overnight.
Day 16 - Back to Machu Picchu Today
you will have the opportunity to revisit Machu Picchu, and
to make sure you explored every corner of this unique site.
Perhaps today might be a good opportunity to climb up to
the sun-gate, or to visit the watch-tower on Wayna Picchu
from where you will get an unparalleled view of the site.
You will return by first-class train to Cusco in the evening. Hotel
Marqueses Cusco
