Dear SAS Travel,
Last night, as we discussed what to have for dinner, we reminisced (not for the first time) regarding the wonderful food and dishes we were given while walking the Inca trail earlier this year with SAS Travel. Which made us think two things – we still hadn’t written to thank the guides for their wonderful assistance, and do you have any recipes available for that fantastic food?
On March 28th 2009 my wife Paula and I embarked on the 4 day Inca Trail trip under the guidance of Ernesto, Eider (sp?), and numerous support crew. To give some background, we chose SAS on the recommendation of Melbourne friends who had done the same trip previously. We also chose your organisation based on the guide to client ratio, and an expectation of good service. My wife has advanced breast cancer, at the time also had blood clots in her lungs, and has had brain surgery which affects her balance - so the quality of service and safety was very important to us.
We spent some time adjusting to the climate in Cusco prior to the walk, nevertheless, as expected, my wife found the walk challenging - particularly climbing up to over 4000m to dead woman’s pass on what turned out to be a 10 hour day. However, being the slowest walkers in the group, at all times we were supported by a guide. If we were late to the tent for lunch, food had been kept aside (did I mention how good the food was?), and we received from the guides just the right amount of encouragement to ensure that we kept moving to make it to our destination. I would like to thank Ernesto, and particularly Eider, who usually had the ‘tail end charlie’ role of walking with us, carting the oxygen the whole way, encouraging and being patient while we carefully negotiated the path in the rain. It was a wonderful achievement for my wife to make the trip, walk the Inca trail, and explore Machu Pichu, and it was made possible and enjoyable with the support from your crew. We had a great time and it was the highlight of our 6 week trip to South America. So please pass on our belated gratitude to your team, and in particular Ernesto and Eider.
Since then we have also travelled in North America and the Northern Territory of Australia. Paula continues to receive treatment, recently had further brain surgery to remove tumours, and is generally doing well and planning our next trips.
Yours sincerely,
Kevin Ayrey and Paula Drum.

We trekked the Inca Trail beginning on March 18th with SAS Travel and had an absolutely wonderful time. Your staff especially Eddie and Washington, were exceptional in every way.
From the very knowledgeable guides, to the excellent food, the good morning wake up mug of tea, to the friendliness of everyone on your staff, you really made our trek memorable.
The Inca Trail Trek had been on our " bucket list" for some time.
Thanks so much for making our trip so special !!

Hi fellows...
I would strongly consider doing the Inka Trail Trek with the reputable SAS Travel Operator . Beacuse of regulations and permits, it is a bit expensive (about $500 US), but then it includes a lot of stuff you'd be paying for anyway... three night's lodging, all meals, entrance fees and a train ticket back to Cusco. One of the advantages for you is that you get to see/explore 5-6 "lesser" Inka sites along the way. The scenery is spectacular, and Machupicchu is not to be missed...SAS Travel took us this year (Aug. 05), and they were top notch, very professional, they provided excellent English-speaking local guides, jummy trail meals and treat the porters with great respect.

( SAS Travel - 051 84/249-194; www.sastravelperu.com) is one of the most popular agencies organizing outdoor travel for backpackers and budget-minded travelers in Cusco. ...
They are not the cheapest (paid something like 500 USD) but I know I got a good value for my money.
I walked the Inca Trail in May and used SAS Travel (www.sastravelperu.com) they are head and shoulders above all the other operators ( they get a glowing recommendation in the Lonely Planet guide) They have good equipment, happy porters and what you will soon find to be most important of all - huge portions of fantastic food. On the final night all the other groups looked on in awe as our food was brought to the table.
You don't actually walk from Cusco - but from the 82 km marker at Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley - a two hour drive from Cusco. The trek is four days of fairly strenuous walking, but only for a few hours each day - it's nowhere near as hard as everybody makes out. Take lots of water, some energy bars and have fun !!
Most important thing to remember is BOOK AHEAD !! The waiting list is sometimes four to six weeks long.
Plus I had been at high altitude for a month prior to the trek - and therefore had no problems, but it really affected some walkers. So good idea to spend some time in Cusco acclimatising beforehand. The cost is US$500 which includes bus out to Ollantaytambo and Train back to Cusco - if you want a porter to carry your pack it will cost another $60 - plus you need to allow for tipping the porters, can't for the life of me remember how much that was ($5-10 per day I think?) Might sound like a lot but it's worth paying a bit extra - some of the tours go as cheap as $400, but I spoke to a couple who took one of these and had a thoroughly miserable time. Others out there may have different experiences.
Brilliant trip...Guides were excellent,fun + informative.

Hola SAS Travel:
“I did the Inca Trail hike to Macchu Picchu with my girlfriend and I think it was one of the coolest trips I’ve ever taken. The scenery is breathtaking. What surprised me is the variety one encounters. It goes from dry and arid to snow cap mountains above the clouds to a subtropical jungle with lots of foliage. All in four days. And Macchu Picchu itself is much bigger than it looks in the pictures. The steps you have to climb to get through the city are huge. But the trip wouldn’t have been as much fun w/o our great guides, Hilbert and Eder. Both were super knowledgeable, friendly, and being of Inca ancestry, extremely passionate about their culture. We had a group of 09, so of course some people will be faster than others. But Hilbert and Eder were good at keeping the group together and making sure everyone had adequate rest before moving. Or as Hilbert would say, “What’s the hurry? Macchu Piccu does not move!”
And the porters were incredible. They’re carrying 40lbs on their backs and running past us like supermen. And the food was gourmet. Not the dry, yucky macaroni most campers eat, but real veggies, chicken soup, pasta, the works. And the service was impeccable. Little things like giving each person a bucket of hot clean water and soap to wash your face, arms, and legs at every rest stop makes a huge difference when you’re hot and sweaty.
I would definitely recommend hiking the Inca Trail with SAS Travel to anyone who has a chance. Just take your time to enjoy the experience, or as my friend Hilbert would say, “No Pain…No Gain…, Amigos!”
I will reccommend SAS Travel Company all my friends….!
Happy Birthday …Dear…Amigo…Hilbert…!

SAS reputation as one of the best Inca Trail company and guides definitely showed, especially being led by Angel. All the porters were genuinely caring and overall customer service is worth the extra money paid. I had a great time and would totally recommend SAS to others, just as some of my backpacker friends said I must book the Inca Trail with SAS.
Keep up the good work !

Fantastic Tours !! Virgilio / Bill was always professional and only concerned about the well being of our team. His english and tour knowledge were awesome and no problems were encountered. I`ve been on many tours and this one led by Bill was one of the best. The porters and cooks were fantastic and always ready to help out when needed. Bill should be training other guides so all have the same high standard. Can`t wait to recommend SAS tours to anyone.

Virgilio is a man of amazing gift. A true leader who knows that great leadership entails great service. He is a natural genaral. The depth of his knowledge and constant quest to barn more are the best evidence of his passion. It was an honour to be led through the mountains by him, and yet he has so much to offer that I hope he finds a larger stage an which to share his passion and his knowlwdge and his seekings,
I would highly recommend both the trek and SAS in the future.

The 4-day Inca Trail hike was an unforgettable experience thanks to you folks at SAS and your outstanding organizational skills and can-do personalities. Wilfredo and Oscar were our guides and I would recommend them highly for their knowledge and dependability--and their smiles. Rubén, you should consider giving them a raise! :) The porters were always courteous and there with our gear and food when we needed it, and what food! How they carry all that stuff up the mountain and produce such beautiful gourmet meals is beyond me. Thanks, everyone, for this (probably) once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Hola! I trekked the Inca Trail with Discover Adventure and SAS in early October and it was absolutely wonderful.
The whole trek, and the acclimatization days preceeding it, was extremely well organised and could not be faulted.
The porters were amazing: so hard working and yet so cheerful. The food was wonderful: I don't understand how the chefs managed to produce such healthy and varied meals in the wilderness. The guides were the best: knowledgeable, educated, endlessly helpful, tolerant, cheerful, friendly and funny.....thank you Wilfredo, Danny and, of course, Jose Luis (sorry about the teasing but I do think you are gorgeous!). Wish I could do it all over again. Thank you SAS.

Today I needed OSCAR behind me at work to encourage me to finish, keep going, let me know I was a strong hiker and play the Rocky song so I could finish my shift. He was instrumental in keeping me enthused about finishing and encouraging me to press on. His concern and support was greatly appreciated during our 4 day Inca trail hike. His team work with Wilfredo was exceptional and they made the trip doable and pleasant amid grueling hiking and focus. Thanks Oscar and Wilfredo, I needed you! Dear SAS Travel - Peru
Att.- David Quintana
I wanted to write and say how impressed I was with the level of service and care your team gave us on our recent Lares Trail Trek in Peru. I was a member of the group that came with Discovery Adventure 12th to 22nd of September this year.
The two guides Oscar and Fred were brilliant and looked after us very well. They were always first up in the morning with our Coca Tea and last to bed checking everything was safe for us in the camp site. Fred is obviously very passionate about the Inca history and really gave 100% when he spoke to us on the journey. We all felt like we got the inside story and benefited from Fred’s extensive studying and interest in his subject. His English was excellent. Oscar was very caring and really made sure we were all safe and happy on the trek. He is very responsible and watchful and took the time to make sure that everyone on the trip made it despite some of their difficulties. They are an ideal partnership and were happy to join in with the social aspects of the trek too. We had a lot of fun with them both. They both made it special for us all.
The porters and cooks were amazing too. The food they produced from those tents was outstanding. I think we all wished that we had better appetites. We all loved the pop corn in the evening and the quinoa and pancakes for breakfast!
It was a fantastic trek and I know that all of us enjoyed it immensely and would have no hesitation in recommending SAS Travel in the future.
Kind Regards

Best Tour Ever...!!!
This Lares trek was brilliant. Every thing about it was 10/10
The organization, service, equipment and most of all the delicious meals and the guides !!
Paul and Valentin knowledge and the history ( both spanish and Inca ) The most outstanding aspect of their personalities are their care for the group and the way they made sure every one were okay all the way throughout the trek people who were little sick with the altitude were well looked after but not to the detriment of every one else. They were truely brilliant.

Dear Soledad and SAS Travel Cusco;
My wife and I have recently returned from a trip to Peru and used SAS to book almost all of the things that we did, including Sacred Valley Tour (guide: Martin Martinez), 5 day Inca Trail option (guides: Ruben and Valentin), Rafting day trip, Puno/Titicaca trip with stay on Amantani Island (guide: Edward, family stay: Erme), and day trip in Lima.
Firstly, I would like to say that we were very pleased overall with the quality and the service that SAS provided and that it is really good to see that SAS treats the porters for the Inca trail trip with more dignity than some of the other operations. This was very important to us in addition to the obvious benefits of the wonderful experience and beautiful sights. As a result, I will definitely be recommending SAS for the Inca trail to anyone I know traveling to Peru in the future.
I would also like to specifically mention our guides for the Inca trail. While Martin provide excellent service and great humor (and Edward did an acceptable job in Puno/Titicaca), Valentin and Ruben were absolutely excellent guides. In particular, my wife moved a bit slower than some of the others in our group and we spent a lot of time at the back with Valentin, and he was without question the best guide we have had on any of our trips around the world so far. He was very kind, generous, and funny. When my wife had a hard time on the last day, he carried her small day pack and taught us many very interesting things about the plant life on the trail and in Peru. Without his help, we may not have finished this trek and we definitely would not have enjoyed it nearly as much as we did because of his presence.
I do not know how many trips we have taken on tours in the past, but Valentin definitely put in a lot of extra effort that made our trip unbelievably enjoyable and very memorable. I have never felt strongly enough to write a tour company before, but in this case I think that Valentin warrants some extra credit! He even accompanied us to the train station ahead of time in Aguas Caliente when we weren’t sure of the direction, even though he was done being our guide at that time. If the rest of the guides at SAS are half as good as Valentin, then you indeed most lucky!!!
Thanks again for a great trip, and we are sure we will utilize your services again when we return to Peru! Adios,
Chris Spring and Katrinka Labelle

We just got back from the Classic Inca Trail trek that was on July 18-21. It was a great adventure and Issac was very patient and encouraging to any of us that fell behind. The food was great! We've been to several treks where we had hydrated food for dinner but with SAS you get delicious home cooked meals. In addition, one of the girls from our group got altitude sickness on Day 1 and was safely taken back to Aguas Caliente, she was able to meet us at Machu Picchu and she said she was very well taken care of. SAS is a wonderful organization and they truley take care of the group. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience, we will definitely recommend you to our friends. Thanks again Issaac for making every day enjoyable.

Alex is a terrific professional guide. His enthusiasm about his job, knowledge, considerateness, and humor made us a wonderful trip. Once at an Inca ruin, he told me Andes mountain is his office. His love of nature and tour guiding tremendously infected me. I wouldn't have had such a nice trip without Alex! Thanks to you, Alex! Our porters were heroes! They made our trek very luxury, having lots of delicious food, warm water to wash hands, setting up tents for us. Our cook and waiter were amazing to serve us. We took two trips with SAS in May 2009 to celebrate our birthdays. The first was to Tambo Jungle Lodge, everything about this tour exceeded expectations, the food, accomodation and best of all our guide Jackson, with his immense knowledge and fantastic English he really went out of his way to spot wildlife for us. We have travelled in many countries and took many tours and this guide is worth his weight in gold, a real credit to SAS. The second was the 4 day Inca Trail, again food and accomodation were excellent and the guide Saul very knowledgeable. Well done SAS for having 1st class guides.

Our Inca Trail trip on May 12-15 was awesome! You should be very proud of your staff -- from booking, check in, transportation, food, trail -- everything worked seamlessly. Our trail guide, Saul Palma, was excellent. He is articulate, informative, passionate about the history, and has a great sense of humor. The Inca ruins -- all of them, not just Machu Picchu -- are beautiful and rich in history, and Saul was incredible at explaining things. Please let him know how much we enjoyed his company and friendship. We e-mailed him but didn't receive a response so we're not sure he got it.The food was superb, all the people so nice. Dear SAS Travel,We just completed the 5 day/4 night trek to Choquequirao. Our guide was Roberto and he did a fantastic job. The trek was quite challenging and Roberto was incredibly patient as we navigated the steep canyon to reach the ruins. Moreover, he provided us with wonderful information about history, culture, and politics from beginning to end. We were entertained, enthralled, and enriched by the experience. We also have to mention the wonderful cooks (Alberto and Ricardo), who never failed to amaze us with their incredible culinary skills in such remote places. They tirelessly supported us by setting up camp, feeding us, and assisting us during difficult parts of the climb. Thanks also to the horsemen (Acquino and Johann) who were also tireless. They were altogether a most impressive group, one that represented SAS travel very well. Thanks for one of the most amazing experiences of our lives. Everyone at SAS TravelThank you so much for making my Inca Trail experience SO WONDERFUL - I had a really great time. Our guide Saul was hallarious, and kept everyone in really great spirits, even on the difficult days. People in other groups were staring at us, wondering where we found the energy to sing "in the Jungle" on the way up to Dead Woman's Pass, but it took our minds off the difficult climb ahead, and this was actually my favourite of all the days!! Please pass my thanks on to Saul and Hugo, who kept me company at the back of the group.Everyone I dealt with at SAS was just great - from my initial enquiries, to the guides, the cook and the staff at Aguas Callientes. It was a lovely treat arriving at the hostal at Aguas Callientes - I was expecting shared dorms, but the private room with private bathroom were among the nicest rooms I've stayed in since I arrived on my budget holiday to South America.I am really glad I spent the extra $40 or so to go with a trully exceptional company. I have already recommended SAS to other travellers and hope they will do the same when they come down the mountain.Best RegardsAnita Monaghan, Eva TuckerIreland

Subject: Thanks for a wonderful tripDear SAS Travel I just wanted to tell you what a terrific group of porters and guides we had on our trip leaving Cusco on Wednesday March 4 and arriving in Machu Picchu on Saturday March 7, led by your terrific guide Hilbert. Valentino was a fabulous cook; Hilbert and the coordinator really made sure we were all well cared for. And I especially want to commend Justino who helped me, the slowest of the group, to complete the trek and really enjoy every part of it, in spite of my relative lack of fitness, having to do some of my hiking in the dark because I was slower than the group. Justino was wonderfully knowledgeable about Inca and South American history, about the birds and the flowers and terrain, and always found something to entertain me as I was trying to gather my strength to make the next surge uphill. He taught me how to walk efficiently and conserve energy – and nothing was as rewarding as making it to camp each night with his help. I absolutely encourage you to promote him to a lead guide – he is knowledgeable, thoughtful, calm and very easy to understand in English. My experience was truly made special by Justino.I ve seen other groups but SAS is a first class and superior service. Thanks for a fabulous trip.Sincerely,Mary-Jane Wagle

Inca Trail with SAS I´ve been travelling for 3 months in Peru and Ecuador- Carlos is the best guide, he is professional yet caring for his "family". His passion for the Incan history and culture made the trek more enjoyable, he took care to spend equal time chatting with and getting to know our group. Fantastic

They are extremely well organized, the food was great and they treated the porters with outmust respect. Our guides Ruben Andrade and Raul were great guides. They made the trip an truly unique experience. They were knowledgeable, fun, and a pleasure to get to know.We had many people asking us who we booked through because they saw how great the trip was run compared to their tours. Highly recommended.

My twin sister and I took the 4 day tour. We loved it! Everything was seamless and beautiful. We were so well taken care of and felt safe and secure the entire time. All three of our guides were amazing in their own ways and offered something different. They were Saul, Valentin, & Hugo. Oh and the food was gorgeous!

Ruben / SASJust wanted to thank you for organising an amazing 10 days in Peru. It all went like clockwork from arrival through to leaving. The highlight of course was the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu admirably led by Justino and Enrique. I can safely say that was four of the best days of my life so far. I was intrigued by the revelation that 5 Inca cities have been discovered in the last 8 years and I look forward to returning to explore those in the years to come. Thanks SAS once againChris

Dear SASWe took a 4 day trek with you earlier this year and we felt compelled to write. We are travelling around S.America and have since taken part in many other tours with various companies. It only occured to us following these experiences, just how good Freddy our tour guide was. Not only was he a great laugh through-out, he was encouraging, professional, always greeted us at the top of each stretch to shake our hands and congratulate us and we had an older chap in our group, who was never pressured to speed up. Not to mention the benefit of his English.Other people we have spoken to since, regarding their experience at Machu Picchu don´t seem to compare to ours. So thanks very much to the company but especially to Freddy.RegardsEmmi Isham & David Hills

Date: Tue, Oct 28, 2008 at 8:13 PMSubject: Re: Inca Trail recommendationDear Trekkers, I can tell you without a doubt that SAS did an incredible job for my daughters and me, and I couldn't possibly recommend a travel company any higher than I could SAS. They were extremely professional, their guides were wonderful, their equipment and their food were excellent. They were well organized, and security was excellent. I made my post because I kept reading these bullshit posts from who knows who, and I wanted to set the record straight. While we were there I asked the guides about the treatment of the porters, and from what they said, and from what I saw, I know that they are treated very well. I hope you trek the Inca Trail, and I really hope that you will go with SAS. You won't be disappointed. If you have any questions or would like to contact me, please do.mthabitat@gmail.comSincerely,Mike Trent

Dear David,My family and I just returned home from our fabulous Inca Trail Trek and I wanted to write to let you know how much we enjoyed the vacation. SAS Travel was excellent - very professional, very accommodating and very educational. The trek was difficult but fantastic, the porters were amazing, the food excellent and the hotels were just perfect. This is a trip we will not forget !!.I especially wanted to let you know what an outstanding job our guide, Aldo Sanchez, did with our group. Our group seemed an unusual group - only 7 people, consisting of two middle age Moms and their young adult children. Aldo was absolutely perfect. He was completely professional at all times, yet managed to educate us, motivate us and provide for our needs (our sore feet, aching legs and questionable stomachs). Honestly, Aldo made the trip my most memorable vacation. He is one very good SAS employee!.We have a number of pictures we would like to send to Aldo. Once again, David - SAS Travel Peru was outstanding. You will be my only recommendation for any travel in Peru, and beyond.Thank you.Gretchen Corp Jones

Hi!I was on the Lares Trek in June, and I just want to tell you thank you for that. I had so a good time! I'm thinking very often of this trip - that's the reason why I'm writing now (a little late...). The food was wonderful, the comfort was excellent and especially the guides were great! I was on a trip with Saul Palma, who is the best guide I've ever met. Please tell him about that! I told many friends about this trip and I think, some will come to Cusco next week and ask for the Lares Trek! They want Saul Palma as a guide. Is this possible?Thank you again!Patricia Knodl

Our team of 17 trekkers (and 2 Paddington's) have just returned to the UK after trekking the Inca Trail for The Fostering Network. It is fair to say that our achievement would not have been possible without Willy and his team of guides and porters. The knowledge that the guides have brought the trek and the Inca's to life and the amount of equipment that the porters carry made for a very (well, nearly very) comfortable 4 days and 3 nights outside. We also could not have acheived what we did without the expertise from David at Discover Adventure and the 'Doc'.

My wife and I (both about 50) did the 4 day Inca trail trek and had one of the best times of our lives. Our guides, Elvis and Isaac, were the best (truly awesome guys!) and the porters made it a pleaurable experience, especially the morning hot tea. Dinner time was always an anticipated event. The scenery was spectacular, and the hikes were twice as challenging as we anticipated. I would not recommend the 4 day trek for those not in shape, but if you can handle the exercise at altitude, it will be the best experience you could get. SAS is highly recommended and we may end up doing a different trek with them in the future.

I want to say Thank You Ruben and the 17 Porters who assisted us on a wonderful journey, the adventures and experience was beyond anything that I had ever imagined, SAS Travel is one of the best ever agencies that I have ever experienced and there is no amount of money that can be paid to the Porters and Ruben of course for the hard work and efforts to meet our every needs, the food, the tents, and anything that I might have left out, "KNOW" that you guys are awesome and thank you for the great memories of wonderful Peru and the Inca Trail.

We went on the Inca Trail in late July with SAS and had an absolute fantastic time! The entire agency was very helpful, especially when my boyfriend and I were sick. Who knew that Andean teas could cure altitude sickness? The guide was incredibly resourceful and spoke excellent English. We will use this agency again the next time we hike the Inca Trail. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Thank you Virgilio, Alex, cooks, and porters from the Sheeler family. I have already recommended SAS to many friends who have asked about our 4 day Inca Trail walk. For those prospective hikers reading these comments, we live at sea level, and were the two oldest (58 and 60) and two youngest (12 and 16) in our group. Here are my recommendations: 1) be in shape --there's alot of steps, 2) allow some time before the walk in Cusco to aclimate, 3) use a good tour company (like SAS), 4) hire a porter (did I mention that there are alot of steps), and 5) ask for Virgilio. This hike may be the best in the world.Alan Sheeler

I went on the Lares trek, scheduled with the SAS travel. I have only good things to to remember about the trip in whole, very well organized, nice new equipment, very good and delicious food in the middle of nowhere, the wake up with the hot tea delived to your tent and warm water to brush your teeth. We had a very knowledgeable guide Roberto. We ran into problems on July 8th 2008, due to strike scheduled by the locals, which caused us to return to Cuzco and discontinue our trip, SAS travel was able to accomodate the needs of everyone in my group and to provide alternative trips for us to visit MachuPichu. The prices SAS travel charges are higher, but you get better service in return. Good work guys. Thank you to Ruben and Roberto

My husband and I just returned from the Salkantay trek. It was one of the best experiences we have ever had. My husband has been on several other treks with different companies in different countries and said that SAS was far superior. Our guide Javier was incredible-he was funny, warm, helpful, caring, and genuinely wanted everyone to have a great time. He was also extremely knowledgeable and taught us many things we will never forget. Anyone that treks with Javier is very lucky! We also had amazing food cooked by the incomparable Mario, it was a gourmet feast at every meal! Mauro was another fabulous guide that ensured we were all safe and comfortable as we trekked. And the porters did everything in their power to make this a memorable trip which it absolutely was. I highly recommend SAS travel and hope that others are able to experience the Salkantay trek with this wonderful group of individuals

My daughter and I returned last week from the classic four day inca trek. Let me say a big Thank You! to SAS and our guides, Oscar and Virgilio. This trip was my dream for 29 years and it was everything I hoped for and so much more. Our guides were friendly and knew everything about the history of the trail and Machu Picchu. When we arrived on the train in Aguas Calientes, both of us wanted to start again the next morning and do it all over. The food was plentiful and nicely prepared. The sleeping bags and tents were new and of high quality. I cannot imagine how anything could have been better. Thank you ! Thank you! Mike Christensen

We booked three trips with SAS (river rafting, Sacred Valley, Salkantay) and all three were beyond our expectations. We just returned from a wonderful lares valley trek. It was more difficult than expected and cold, however our guide Javier was excellent and the other 14 trekkers were great. I unfortunately needed to ride horseback for a few hours each day and Blady and Luis were very patient with me. The tour exceeded my expectations. For those of you thinking of this trek, please bring very warm clothes for the nightime and confirm all reservations with the office as some of the accomodation and air transfer plans were not arranged properly. All in all it was a spectacular trip with incredible views. Again Javier´s knowledge and patience was second to none

I have just returned to the UK after trekking the Inca Trail for Macmillan Cancer Support. I just wanted to say Thanks to all your guides and porters for all they did for the group. They were fantastic! I certainly couldn't have done it without the support from both Discover Adventure and your team. I miss my cup of hot tea on waking!
We also visited your creche - wow! I will be sending clothes and toys to DA to bring over when they next come to help out.
Thanks again

Dear SAS - I just concluded a wonderful 4-day Inca Trail hike with you and wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for the best trip of my life! Thank you to our guides, Ernesto & Raul, for taking care of us; thank you to our wonderful hard-working porters from the Pisac community of Pampallacta; thank you especially to Wilbur, our fantastic chef, who somehow was able to make delicious, nourishing and well-presented dishes with basic cooking equipment.
Our stay in Hotel Marqueses couldn't have been better, and we really enjoyed the post-trail lunch in Hostel Viajeros in Aguas Calientes. All in all, an extremely enjoyable and well-planned trip and I would recommend SAS Travel to my friends in a heartbeat.

I just wanted to thank SAS so much for our amazing time that we had in Cusco in January. The guide Carlos and all our porters on the Inca trail were brilliant. So supportive and always ready with our tent pitched and a hot cup of tea!
We also did the 4 hour horse trip and the Sacred Valley tour which were both great, with excellent guides. But the best of all was the rafting, what great fun! Our guide and safety Kayaker were brilliant, we couldn't have asked for a better day.
Thanks so much SAS! You are all great!

Our trip over Christmas and New Year to Peru was special and very well coordinated. Robyn, thank you so much for your thorough and well communicated and prepared segments of our adventure. Many folks we met on our trip had nightmare stories about their agencies - NOT US! We met wonderful new friends on our 4 day Inca Trail trek. The guides, Raul and Jose Luis were the best, the porters were incredible and the food was outstanding. Our venture into the Tambopata Amazon too was simply a dream. Thank you all for your service, kindness, friendship and making our trip memorable. I wouldn't hesitate referring SAS to anyone wanting a seamless, enjoyable, stress-free trip. Thanks again SAS!

My children still talk about the wonderful experience we had during our 2004 trip to Cusco, Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca and the Manu Park Jungle. Along the Inca Trail our incredible guides included, José and Alex. While in Manu, Fabia and "Luce" were simply wonderful!! Using the Hotel Marqueses as our "home-base," we felt welcomed everywhere we went!
I am in the process of investigating a trip for my parents. Both are avid runners and travelers. I know that they too will love their Peru adventure experience.

My trek with SAS far exceded my expectations. The Porters & Guides did an excellent job; the journey was made more remarkeable by the excellent food, facilities and company of the crew. The guide's (Carlitos & Alex) knowledge of the trek was very impressive. With all of my questions, I always recieved a real answer! Tons of fun and will recommend SAS to anyone - THANKS!

Thank you SAS for an unforgettable Peruvian experience on the 4-day Inca Trail. My sister and I was looking for an adventure, and boy did we get an adventure of a lifetime! All the hard work of hiking for 4 days, the sore legs, no shower, no sleep (from the altitude).....was all totally worth it! Please extend our warmest thanks to our wonderfully funny and most entertaining tour guides: Ruben, Julio, and Saul. They're the best!! =)

We recently did a tour to Lake Titicaca including a home stay on one of the islands as well as hiking the Inca trail. We booked both tours with SAS Travel and we would recommend them to anyone who wants a true Peruvian experience with 3 course meals on the trek, the envy of all other groups. Our guides Jose "A" & Jose "B" were very informative on Inca history & patient with our slow pace. The porter's were amazing, often running up hills that left us breathless. SAS's claim that they will do everything to get you over "Dead Womens Pass" is true. The scenery and the Inca ruins are awe inspiring and leave more questions than were answered. Thank you again SAS for a trip to remember.

Thank you SAS for a fantastically organised, truly amazing & forever memorable Inca Trail Trek.
As regards physical achievement, I think completion of the Inca Trail is my greatest to date.
It wouldn't have been possible without the encouragement, patience & mighty craic of the greatest guides ever. Aldo & Amilcar (Arnie!!!), ye got me to the top when I thought I couldn’t walk another step……I owe ye big time, thanks a million.
As for the porters, they deserve all the respect that the world has to offer, the fact that they do everything with a smile on their faces only reinforces this opinion. They should be renamed “Iron Men”!
I’ll be recommending SAS Travel to anyone travelling to Peru……keep up the good work & thanks again…….

We are just back from a fabulous 3 weeks in Peru all organised through SAS Travel (29th September till 21st October). Thank you for a wonderful time - we met so many great people, saw so many amazing sights, and have many great memories. The Inca Trail was brilliant, our guides Orlando and Washington and the team of porters were excellent - thank you to all of them for making the Inca Trail the experience it was. We also had a great time in Manu - thanks for the efficient way in which our unexpected extra night at Boca Manu was organised - Dustin and the rest of the team were very helpful. Our other tours were fantastic experiences too - staying on an Island in Lake Titicaca and the colca canyon trip. All hotels were excellent too. Raul in the office in Cusco was also great and really helpful to us and others we were travelling with whenever we needed anything clarified or organised/changed.
Thank you to everyone at SAS Travel - we were very sad to leave Peru and would recommend your company to anyone wishing to travel in Peru.
It's difficult to get across in words what a fantastic time we had and how it was made so hassle-free by SAS....may be I'll write more again when I'm over the jet lag!
